🍿 ready. I’ve got an 8 yo silent herdsman set up. It’s going to be obsolete and the newest collars are coming up 5 yo, so I think I’ll be in the market before too long.

A massive amount of my herd insights collars are dead, some after about 6 weeks use aswell! so unreliable it's ridiculous, so make sure you take into account reliability as it's so much hassle swapping dead collars out all the time.

On other threads it seem to be nedap allflex or cowmanager.

I'm cow manager and day 41 of service so won't post figures until next week.

Main weakness that need considering is grazing and how quick do you need the data after cows have arrived in yards. It can be managed in all situations but to make sure you have 24/7 data at grazing might incurr extra cost.

We found the latest Silentherdsman receiver too slow to catch all the cows before going in the parlour. First one was fine, maybe to do with wellness data that we didn’t have before. I think we will move it before turnout.

Yes Allflex. No monthly charge (unless you want to link it to another programme such as uniform). We got ours under the grant last year, can’t remember how much off top of my head. Also traded in old heat time system with them. Best to give allflex a call.
