Best auto footbath

So got the countryside productivity grant approved for one of these...

Any suggestions of which one to go for?

Putting about 180 through, should I get a cow counter to automatically change after so many cows?

Thanks, CB

Our auto bath is set to change at 170 cows and does a job. If you’re getting a decent whack of grant, might as well go for a counter and fill your boots

I’ve a cow care one, can’t fault it. Initially I didn’t like the big square bit on the end but it doesn’t effect cow flow. Bear in mind where you are going to place it, I blame my auto bath for stirring up formalin fumes more so than a standard one it replaced.

Another question, with the autofootbaths, what triggers the solution to change after, say 100 cows?
Do you use a cow counter (infrared sensor or similar)?
Or just rely on the dairyman hitting a button part way through milking?
@Bald Rick how does your counter work, and is it reliable?
Thanks all

A sensor, precisely how it works is beyond my pay grade but the number of cows can be relatively easily adjusted by anyone

Boumatic one here. Can set the refresh rate on the filler or pc have it set here to refresh every hour during milking. Only down side is waiting for it to empty on a quick milking or it’s empty before you finish milking on a slow one. Worth its weight in gold though saves a lot of hassle.

Very happy with the cow-care one we bought - discussed the ability to count cows and they happily supplied a 'magic eye' that counts the cows through. Footbath automatically drained flushed and refilled after 'x' cows whch is adjustable in the control panel.
Now the downside - with all auto equipment - staff can become reliant on it being automatic and become lazy and dont bother checking - not a problem with motivated staff but a big problem if they are only there for the money . How hard is it to look as you go by and check all is ok?

What products are those with automatic footbaths running in them? We are looking at putting in autos and currently we run copper sulphate, formalin, and salt baths. Formalin is liquid product so easy there but what are the options for liquid copper or salt if there is even a thing?

So to close this out, went for a cow care footbath here with formalin, v. well made.
But got a digi outbreak recently. Checked it all over and was underdosing, 1.5% instead of 3. So when you get one installed, check the calibration with a bucket.
