Since the loss of ipu and ctu I've resigned myself to the fact that theres nothing worth using for wild oat control in the autumn. I just mop them up with topik or if other nasties aswell broadway star.
Which begs the question are they worth bothering with in the autumn ,

No, I never bother just clear them up in the spring.
In the good old days when I was a nipper 3lt of ipu would be it. I hardly ever done anything for oats in the spring.

Edit. It's more BLW I wish I could get cleared up in the autumn and not bother in the spring.

Does the avadex really do much over what an extra lt of PDM and another slug of dff would do for blw's
From memory avadex does carlicks, what does it cost a ha????35 quid
Not great on charlock. No we were talking about WO. As you said it’s a PITA without CTU or IPU.

What sort of money is Picomax? How thick are the oats? Unless they are really thick I'd leave them until spring and mop them up with Foxtrot/Oskar in March/April. It depends on what else you need to treat. I just use Broadway Star but I'm after brome and a wide range of broad leafed weeds too, and that does them all.

how well does the Broadway Star kill brome and wild oats, I have fields this year where they are still alive, though this was a poor year for weed control generally

Until this year 100% but this year a few brome and oats have slipped through but I think this could be because they germinated very late and were small enough to hide under a wheat leaf when it was sprayed.

About £6 / litre , pendamethalin and picofenlin , they have to be done in the autumn in a couple of fields or they go wild
BS was quite good initially, but I haven't been as impressed subsequently , Topik is better imo
