I'm after a small 18" chainsaw to do small jobs with.
Any ideas which brand to go for and why.

The Makita cordless is a cracking little saw ,,Ive got one for bitting about with at home (its more nieghbor friendly) they have more power than you think ,,downside is ,you need two more batteries on charge if you are using it alotBattery one? I’ve got a makitta one being delivered tomorrow. Wanted something for cutting rails when fencing and knocking the odd branch off. Can live behind pickup seat and won’t stink the place up with petrol. From what people have told me that have them and reviews online they seam to be ok. obviously not going to tackle a big fallen tree but Gand for little jobs.

Would you happen to have any links to these well under £100 Makita Saws.... ?Agree.
Light, easy to use, ideal for logging etc and at well under £100 you can't go wrong

Very good point....I hadn't noticed.Small and 18 inch bar is a bit of an oxymoron no? I mean that's Husqvarna 560 territory..
Deffo a scam, that not a new 1 in the photo. I looked all over the Internet and there around £300 for the bare saw plus batteries after that. The cheaper ones advertised with batteries only have 3ah batteries, bought mine with 6ah batteries.I generally work on the theory if something too good to be true it probably isn't ........................Got to be a scam?
come on you don't live in a backwater a battery saw with battery delivered for under £100 in todays market and a branded one at thatWell I don't know! All I did was find a saw at a certain price and all you lot can do is cast doubt and aspersions. Just no pleasing some folk!
I was genuinely surprised they were that dear so had to check online and it looks like that's what they cost. It must be 2 or 3 years ago that model came out and local makita dealer had them on a promotion £100+vat. I'm glad i bought one back then.Makita DUC355Z Twin 18v Brushless Chainsaw (Body Only)
The Makita DUC355Z is a traditional rear handle chainsaw with a 35cm bar, powered by 2 x 18v batteries linked in series to run a powerful 36v Brushless DC motor which is around 30% more efficient than its brushed counterparts and provides longer run time.www.fastfix.co.uk
Bought one recently, these guys were the cheapest I could find online.
Maybe you weren't aware but if the last letter of the Makita product code is a Z it denotes it is a bare unit that comes without batteries or charger. They are often very much cheaper and you have to be careful not to get caught out by assuming it comes with batteries.come on you don't live in a backwater a battery saw with battery delivered for under £100 in todays market and a branded one at that
