Best farm all round dump trailer.

Basically i,m looking for a trailer that can carry 16 ton of stone,soil etc but can also be used for carting farm muck. A lot of trailers i have looked at look ok but sides are to low when using for muck, not seen many with greedy boards fitted, another factor is bed height of trailer, lower the better.
Not sure if a basic farm dump trailer is strong enough for stone etc, or maybe one could be spec to a higher standard.
I will ring AW unless someone recommends another make to look at.

We have a stewart construction 15 tonne dump trailer which can hold 15t of stone, can take a sensible load of muck and can lead grain of the combine. Next time I think I would go for the 20t hardox version.

I like the look of the Bailey contract tipper, hadn’t got a raised tail but tips up high, I think they do greedy boards for grain as well.
nearly ordered one a few months ago with our low loader , wish I had as I’m sure the prices have gone up well now

i’d be more inclined to say the Bailey Agri Dumper, higher sides as standard

Yeah looks good, I think the flat total bed would suit me better as I can put water tank in etc and move seed , and use total length

Has a quote yesterday for a 11 ton with floations with a few other extras, not sure whether to name and shame but was best part of 25k, is this where the prices have risen too? I thought 16k was where it should be, am i missing something here.
I had a look on the internet last night and found plenty of 18 tonners that were nearly new for 18k.

Can you not just use a normal grain trailer? They have steel floors don't they?

We were in the same predicament a few years ago, we had an 18 ton bailey contract dumper which was a seriously good trailer very strong but still couldn't get a massive amount of muck or grain in so we changed to a 14t bailey root trailer on commercial running gear. Its one hell of a trailer and bought another since. I've had 19.6t of manure in it and 20t of chalk and it really is no bother to it. I don't really rate the baileys that sit higher, they seem very unstable and seen a lot on their side.

That's what I want, a normal grain trailer that is made a bit stronger, 6mm floor etc, commercial spec.

Bailey will do that if you ask, at extra cost obviously but maybe not as much more as you think. The only thing to be aware of is that dump trailers are designed to be strong without being silly heavy, if you start speccing a grain trailer with thicker floor and sides it could end up quite heavy. Might be worth looking for a dump trailer you could add greedy boards to for muck rather than a grain trailer you can only half fill when on heavy stuff. I guess it depends how much of each job it needs to do

I've been looking at various trailers more suited to stone/soil/muck. Think you simply have to make a compromise somewhere unless you want greedy boards/grain/silage sides to suit muck.

By christ are trailers some amount of money now, especially if you want 8-10 stud axles and air brakes....
