All much of a muchness no? Some, such as Albutt, do a heavy duty version that should be fairly future proof. Depends if you want a side bar as well because I don't know as they all are designed to have one.So what is the best flat eight bale grab , thinking for the future can it do midi sized bales too?
I've had both, Browns suited me better, less bales slipping, also shallower back plate so less soil contamination.Had a Brown from the 1960s , don't use it now but the Cook looks far superior with opposing tines so bales don't slip off on rough ground.
olly grab to pick bales up 4 side by side 2 long 8 balesAm I being thick or are we talking about grabs designed for a tractor-loader or a telehandler? In my tiny mind the respective grabs for these are often rather different?

browns cooks or farmhand superior
will take you a pic of the heavy duty bale loader in yard
If picking Welgar bales up grab needs to be slightly longer if you want to pick any cross way to load trailerMoulton would be my choice
Yep, Moulton do one. They very rarely slip a bale. Just have to be a little bit careful on the cut tines rather than cast ones as they can cut strings if you're not lined up right. Will happily run 3 4 stringers or two six stringers all day too.If picking Welgar bales up grab needs to be slightly longer if you want to pick any cross way to load trailer
ollie @sjt01 is the man to ask about small bales he has seen a few hundreds of thousands . he may have some pics of 3 welgar and think they used to use around 5 ton of string a yearOh cripes, you guys are on about little bales?
The only pictures of the Welger were at the farm sale after my father diedollie @sjt01 is the man to ask about small bales he has seen a few hundreds of thousands . he may have some pics of 3 welgar and think they used to use around 5 ton of string a year
The lad on the stack in the last photo is now carting 80x90 bales today, having baled them yesterday. He is not that far off retirement now! Those two photos are brilliant. The last one especially. Worthy of having it printed and framed I would say. All the best
I'm told that grabs with opposing tines are better. We have a Cooks but I haven't used it yet, I'm told the Tanco is better.
