Best flea killer for dogs

If you allready have a flea problem, then something like 95% of the population will be in buldings/vehicles and can take over a year to completely hatch even if you instantly kill 100% of the fleas on all cats/dogs.

Frontline SpotOn Plus is recommended by many independent vets who don't make money selling prescriptions only products, many other brands are likely to work just as well. The Frontline website explains the lifecycle of the fleas.

Remember if a dog loves water then some flea products will not last as long. Control depends on continuing totally breaking the lifecycle rather then waiting until symtoms returns.

For fleas I’ve always been a fan of the cheap and cheerful frontline from the supermarket. Cheap enough to keep whacking on regularly.
General house/furnishing treatment is a ball ache and not too successful. More a problem with the cleaning and moving stuff round that’s a pain.

Yesterday Amazon had a good price for Frontline Plus, remember there is 3 versions of Frontline and also need to buy based on size of dog.

Funny thing, I've had a few dogs over the years but do not recall ever seeing a dog flea! Ear mites, yes. I did once find one after travelling to London by train but I suspect that was of the human variety. It did not survive long.

I used the Plus on my wee dog, she had a very bad reaction to the "sand flea" component. We do not have sand fleas in Britain 🤬 it was so bad I filled out an official DEFRA med reaction form.
We used to chuck the dogs in the sheep dip years ago when we dipped
Ah the good old days, before penicillin 🙄😂.
Actually in the 80's in the US, dog dip was sold, same stuff, diazinon.

Some on here still refer to using sheep products in dogs, SpotOn, Click etc. Permethrin compounds are dangerous to dogs!!!! WTF use the right stuff.

I apologise in advance for the following but have heard sprinkling laxative on the dogs back is very effective, but you have to remember when the fleas get of to go to the bathroom you need to hide the dog before they get back.

If you keep up the flea treatment then you are unlikely to see any fleas likewise if your dog is not exposed to areas that other dogs/foxes drop flea eggs.

Add that the causes of itching are summative and you can't do much about some of them. Fleas, pollen, dietary allergy, dust mites, household chemical residues etc all cause a dog to be itchy.
