Best game cover for mid-tier?

Hi all,

Just wondering what others think is the best game cover for pheasants on mid-tier?

We've decided to apply to go into the scheme and are going to chop some awkward corners off a few fields and plant something... am I right in thinking it has to be a minimum of 1 acre in size?
