Best machine for grassland overseeding?

Had great results with Vaderstad just cutting Seward and dropping seed in , drilled it twice at half rate then rolled...... Vad can travel pretty fast and gets over ground.
Don’t think it matters much what method you apply, as long as you have seed to soil contact and it rains pretty soon after rolling .

What about the ELMS thing that's coming in and the support for PP? Might it be that ploughing will be frowned upon?

I believe a proper spray off and plough is the best method if you're not going in with a break crop which would avoid wire worm and leather jacket issues.

Direct drills are mega bucks...... if you can't afford one then a contractor might not get there at the ideal time. Had some done over various years and the take was not great especially going into dry weather.

After looking at all the options and our landscape, i went with the Guttler Greenmaster, 2.5m to get down some of our lanes and tight bridges. At the time i was looking at a Vredo and Erth, Vredo were getting bad reviews in wet and stony land, which most of the places round here are and there was already an Erth with a local farmer who was not getting good results. The Greenmaster offered something different and I do like it’s versatility to sow on ploughed land, repairing poached and damaged fields, normal grassland and burnt off ground. I appreciate it is not a machine for everyone, but it works for me and had good results with it.

Looks great. Wouldn't tick the boxes for grant assistance though so have gone for the Erth and we'll see how we get on. Accord metering should handle some cereal drilling too which I want to try. I wonder why the farmer near you isn't getting on very well? Reseeding after burn off looks the most hit and miss job but will mainly use it for rejuvenation after mowing and at the end of grazing.

At the time he didn’t quite understand the machine, last year or two he has been getting better results. Think he’s going in too deep

can you hire and erth, looks handy im sure ive power harrowed to much with some of my reseeds and it makes top layer very compact, ive concluded over seeding could be the answer in flat fields that just need rejuvenation. some fields ive ploughed were really uneven so there was no other choice.
