They are always too dear at St Boswells, and other far North England marts. You would have to go to the Western Isles sales, but maybe they have been held now.Probably just as good to buy nearest to where you are,and have less haulage. With information just a click or a second away, there is not much difference all over the country now.(unless you want or can find some marts to provide the finance as well)

Not looking for finance no just places where I can buy 250-400 lambs in a day looking for around 1500 all together and dont want to lose to many days in markets , dont mind travelling ,looking for small ish texel x and cheviots to be ready late feb march time and dont want timbe paying anymore than around £48

Probably Stirling, ua, or cally. Lambs at St Boswells will be of good ground, Stirling more of upland/hilly ground that will go on and do with you down there.

Only downside with longtown is they come infested with scab, treat them straight out of the wagon.

Tbh if I was buying 1500 store lambs from farms you don’t know, out of your area, I would dip them straight away as you could be as popular as rabies in a guide dogs home with your neighbours if you brought scab or lice into the parish.

Store lamb sales should have dips set up as the sheep arrive they get dipped.

I agree with your sentiment about dipping at markets but will the auctioneers support it

That's too drastic. But each batch as they arrive should be checked for scab, and if infected, the vendor should be executed on the spot.
