Best potato box

Which is the better designed potato box?
Looking at 2 options. One has a single center bearer. The other has 2 bearers bolted to the centre post that travels through the floor. It looks a stronger box, and it's slightly more expensive. HK reckon they sell more of the single bearer with nail plate type than anything else. Is that because they are a bit cheaper or because they last longer?

We don't grow spuds any more but still store them and hire boxes. Always felt that nailed boxes like the above were best. I felt that the bolted type ended up with broken bottoms to the uprights more easily. They don't skid along the floor well when pushed with the forklift, chunks just break off imo.

Last I heard, £108 for a class 8 box up this way.

I never liked the boxes with diagonal slats as it holds crop back when tipping. Obviously a lot more popular in the south.

Are 1.5t boxes not the modern way now?

I'm fed up of having to fish a few spuds out of every box that comes back from the factory.

These type just don't look as strong though do they? Basically just a rectangular frame nailed on to a pallet. But to be fair we have got a fair few here that are over 20 years old so they must have some longevity. I have found a lot of the other type tend to split on the bolt and the split then travels up the entire centre upright.
The ones with the timber braces are £8 dearer. Extra timber i guess.
My biggest bugbear is when they come back from the factory damaged. Or worse still don't come back at all.

That drove me mad. Broken boxes, often middle leg broken/missing.

The boxes kennyo posted are good and will last a long time. The nail plate holds them tight, although does make repairing them a bit harder.
