I've owned Maschio, Dowdeswell, Vicon, Kuhn and Rabe.

Rabe PKE the strongest and best built closely followed by Kuhn (1004 series).

Although no problems with any of them to be fair.

Agree tried a kuhn after having a maschio for years only had the kuhn for 1 season just wouldn't break the heavy land like a maschio got a dm maschio now
Yep I'm on a maschio dominator it's getting a bit worn now but it makes a better job than a Kuhn. It's just you barely see new ones.

Got quotes on 3 meter units. a Lemken zirkon 12 and Kuhn HRB302D. Same price on both units. Which one do I go with? Tractors available for use are 175 and 195hp. According to specs the Kuhn rated to 140hp and Lemken to 210hp. Lemken looks built a bit better and have more rotors than the Kuhn. Any input? Received no quote from pottinger and Kverneland only has a 3.5m which is quite a bit more expensive

Yes to compare like with like it should be a Kuhn HR3004D which have a 250hp rated gearbox.

A Lemken Zirkon 8 would be equivalent to a Kuhn 300D series.
Thanks. I told the dealership what tractors are available and they quoted on the mentioned Kuhn model. I think its the only one that they could get the price to match that of the lemken.

Surely you have only quoted the effeminate version of Kuhn there, you want a 1000 series?
That is why I questioned the model because researching Kuhn power harrows I saw that wont work. Dealership said it should be fine if we dont increase speed because the bigger tractor isnt going to feel the lighter harrow. I didnt like that answer. The kverneland is about 6500 more expensive but it is a 3.5m. The gap is to big which makes the Lemken the better deal.

I don’t like clod boards that aren’t close to the tines?
Our old Lely had a clod board close to the tines and it left a nice level finish as the tines spread any high bits all the board. The Mascio we have now has a clod board attached to the roller. It’s too far off the tines and pretty useless at levelling compared to the Lely.
I havent found a better powerharrow than Lely. It worked.

I’ve had Lely for years and up until this year our 4 metre machine did 2000 plus acres a year on ploughing or disced ground we have a pancracker on the front so it has a very long pto shaft so the universals get a lot of hammer but I really think they are pretty good machines.
