If these "screw on" guns are so amazing.....why have they not caught on everywhere? Is it like trying to persuade farmers using horses that the tractor is the future?

I'm surprised that for every grease gun made, there isn't an identical version with the screw on cartridge version.
They are the way forward, but the EP2 cartridges are a bit dearer than std 400g ones, I think last lot I had from JD dealer on stock order were about £2.10 each; and so obviously a lot dearer than bulk.
....And you know the lengths farmers will go to and the privations they will suffer, in order to save a shilling and then pay tax on it.

I get mine from here too - Quality Grease!
the mobil xhp222 special grease is a tad better than that going by the limited specs there.
it would be a bit dearer but not by much, might be worth trying a tube of it to see what you think of it, i use it here and find it excellent, there is good last in it and it has moly added which helps save wear.

Has anyone tried our cartridges? No mess, no waste and 5 different types all at very competitive prices. We also do a deal for buying 4 boxes at a time or when purchased with a Speedy Grease Gun.
Check them out here https://www.speedygrease.com/collections/cartridges

Personally I didn't get on with my speedy grease gun. Sure it pumps grease well but with awkward nipples the mag can be a pain, the two handles are a bit odd and it needs more care than a steel tubed gun (don't leave it on the floor and not upright on a steel container or else the grease falls out when it gets hot).

That's just me though and each to their own. I know people that really rate them.

 ..2 and half times the cost at least ....... is it that much better ?
greasing trimmer rotor bearings takes about 1 cartridge ........i usually push a bit more in at lunchtime as well could get a bit pricey.

No they use a normal cartridge which you put a plastic bung in the bottom which sucks up/vacuum as you pump grease.
Yes, but I was looking at the photos of the 3 Exol carts at the bottom of the link, which look very similar to Lube shuttle..
Think this is the confusing bit and why many don't rate/get on with the speedy grease gun. Firstly there must be different models of the speedy gun, then different modifications for them.
Have just checked to see exactly what I've got and it appears the gun is designed to take the standard cartridges with the rim (preferably solid that @ACEngineering was asking for) by unscrewing the sleeve, slipping it over the cartridge and screwing it on again and putting one of the plastic caps supplied in the end of the tube. However the ones Spaldings supply have a threaded alloy boss with a solid rim that fits in place just like a standard cartridge, this boss accepts lube shuttle cartridges and transforms it into a high pressure choke free gun Imo.

So what is the deal???
Web site says nothing?

If you scroll to the bottom of the home page you will see the special offers listed there. Also when you select 'cartridges' from the 'speedy grease' drop down menu and click on a type to add to your basket you can select 1 or 4 boxes and the price will adjust accordingly. thanks.

Try the Lock'N'Lube coupler that will fit on any grease gun (we stock M10 and 1/8BSP for American guns) https://www.speedygrease.com/collections/grease-products/products/locknlube
