Big Red Honda, well minded if you can find one. Or consider any of the KLF's From Kawasaki for value. Check oil level Every Day and they go forever. Again keep an eye in the small adds for a tidy one.

i swapped a Honda 350 for a 420 last year,

i love it, its injection instead of carb so starts first time every time no problems and runs sweet,

selectable 4wd, and power steering,

its a treat, wish i had swapped old 350 sooner!

Haven’t had a 420 Honda, but had numerous atc’s and 300, 350 and 450 Quads. Now have a a 450 grizzly. Brilliant bike. Would replace with the same again.
They are a much heavier bike than a 420 Honda, and only really comparible to a Honda 500. 350 grizzly would be a better comparison for the Honda 420. Honda 420 was the replacement for the Honda 350. Honda 500 replaced the 450.

Just seen one on facebook marketplace with 850 hours

The Honda 300, THE best quad ever produced! No it's not a tractor but is nimble and will get you nearly anywhere you could walk with a small payload. Here's one on fleabay;https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-tr...702306?hash=item3b3fc14962:g:rYQAAOSwE19eDm52 I'd offer £1600 and see what the seller says. Spare parts are plenty SH and most new although even Daltons parts dept can't get some bits now.
Second hand units are available from Daltons ATV's http://www.hondaquad.co.uk/used-atvs/
They've looked after mine for twenty years now. I rebuilt it 12 years ago and it's faultless as a run-about.
If you want a big tractor sized quad that's expensive in every way please don't ask me I'm not a fan.;)

I am curious when folk are buying these older bikes how much
A. Work have they done already?and
B. How much to you envisage doing a year with them?

Only ask as we have 4 and 3 of them do 500hrs plus a year approx 8000 miles and after 4 years it shows.
They are the only things on farm that get used every day other than ourselves.

Big age those bikes now, very good in their day though. Personally I wouldn’t want a bike bigger or heavier than that.

I do less miles in both my 4x4 and car combined! WOW! I'm exhausted just thinking about it. My little quad is just for getting me about in difficult terrain where I don't need to churn up ground and repair the odd fence, prune a tree or visit a neighbor. I think it is a 1984 model, rebuilt from the ground up in 1999 and still in good nick.
Out of my league by some considerable way and into the tens of thousands cost wise.
