Best time of day for weaning

Planning on weaning the lambs this weekend, given the heat i'll either do it first thing in the morning or later in the evening.
Any opinions on best time of day to do this to minimise stress levels etc?

Last year I kept the ewes in the field next door and they seemed to settle quite quickly, only had one trying to feed through the fence and then I moved the ewes off out of sight a few days later

We weaned ours few weeks ago, then a few days later about 1/3 had to be weaned again and we still have 3 milk addicts that would surely cross though the fences of a lion enclose to get back to the ewes :banghead: Lack of grass regrowth isn't helping either.

Least stressful is have them either side of a good stock fence so they can still see each other and sleep "together". Ideally give the lambs access to decent grass (if there is such a thing) so they learn to wander off, have a bite, then come back and see mum at the fence. After a couple of days they stop coming back so often and then stop.

Found they get wound up too much like that and get caught in fence and hedges trying to get to each other.

Other than avoiding the heat I wouldn't have thought time of day would matter, would it? We did ours about 10 days ago, yows up to fell, about 3 miles from home, lambs onto another farm about 2 miles in opposite direction so plenty distance between them. Lambs getting a sniff of feed now and they settled after about a day, a few yows came back down to fell gate for a day or two but took off again now
