Any sisu engine will outlast all other engines , Perkins are good for 8-10,000 hrs on average while the sisu will double that.
Always rated the Sisu engine but I know of a few 4 cylinders that have sh!t themselves, timing gear and oil pump fails, maybe just bad luck.

Vote here for the Ford Power star. They desperately needed a good engine after the porus block episode and they created a gem.
Been a good engine for us, some on big hours now.

The most amazingly hard engine here is a Perkins 4.236 T in a 60hx loader, it's been round the clock a few times and the timing gear sounds like a bag of bolts in a washing machine but it just keeps on going. Been worked bloody hard here and never been touched since new either.

Surely CAT or Volvo, a D8 is a tractor isn’t it!
I’ve a number of cat engines C15,C13,C12,C9 3406 and a 3208. All have been fairly good engines but the 3406 has been excellent. Never a minute of down time. All are subject to fuel issue of one sort or another. also have three Cummins 8.3l and they have been my most troublesome with leaking head gaskets and one with dropped valve leading to a self destruct. favourite is the C9. Pulls like a train and has a sound that makes men go weak at their knees.

The three cylinder Perkins in the likes of a 135.

I bet they have fed more people than any other lump!

Had that engine in our MF Drott, amazing the work it would get through
