Best tractor of the 80's

My 6700 had a new block at 3 years old, but then our Nuffield 4/65 also had to be rebuilt when nearly new. I think the balancers led to trouble with the 4/65 engine as well as water leakage problems and it wasn't a great success.

As a former long term 7810 owner that's new to me.
Why is that a 7810 trait? It's got the same block as everything else from the Ford 7910 to the 8830.

I can only assume you have never owned a Ford such as the 7810 and therefore cannot appreciate how good a well maintained one can be!

you seem to forget i am a mechanic as well as a tractor driver

as such i have been called out on numerous occasions to sort out the aforementioned problem

and for what its worth....to fit the 401 engine into the 7810 required a different sump and oil pump

I wouldnt wish to own a 7810, having driven one, i can honestly say i would rather buy a zetor such was my experience of it

plus after being accustomed to the meagre fuel consuption from running browns, id never stand the fuel bill from running a ford, the 401 in particular was a thirsty lump

good job you could interchange ford parts easily with how often they needed a new engine block
Fair to say a few David Browns needed new blocks when there engines feck up, at least with Fords you had options, where as DB you need the exact same engine or a new block ex UK, with a six week wait.....
Ironic that of local tractors, the only ones that have required replacement blocks were both David Browns....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As I said before you obviously haven't driven or fixed a well maintained 6 cyl ford.
Drive a good one, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Yes I know good ones are hard to find but then good 1594's aren't exactly numerous nowadays are they!

In what way? Just weak or electrical problems. Ideal tractor for a hedge cutter I reckon with that big side door.
They are stable enough and have a beefy linkage setup. Not much hydraulic flow, though, so a machine with independent controls would suit best. You'll have an awful lot of gear jamming to do, too. Used to have a PA93 on a 2645.

Maybe not then, I've had enough experience of gear jamming in a JD 3050 whilst cutting hedges!lol
