Brakes can be an issue on MF 2000/2005 series, internal leaks lead to non operation on start-up until pressure is built up!
Keep gear linkages maintained and shift quality is good, shuttle lever is convenient too.
Awesome hand throttle lever, and ocean liner exhaust stack add to appeal.

I think they are fab. All 80's tractors had their pitfalls... but for tramping around a ploughed field dragging some rolls, you'll struggle to beat one. Find one with a tidy cab and working air conditioning, they are not a bad place to spend a day. There were a couple of 2680s and a 2725 at a place I worked, years ago. This was my 2645:

No the mk 1 65 had a 192 then the mk2 had the 203 their are one or two external differences, the oil filter is at an angle on the mk1 vertical on the mk2 and a wee wedge shaped part at the rear of the sump .Apologies for being a complete anorak:bookworm:

Mk1 was angled oil filter, wedge sump, and an indirect injection A4/192 engine

MK2 was the better AD4/203 engine and available with the 12 speed multipower box

Some people say the 203 was a smoother running engine than the 212 what replaced it in the MK165

Mk2 65's also had lighting kit as standard.

There were two phases of the Mk2 with AD4.203 engine, the first ones had chrome liners- which were prone to coming loose and being pulled down! Our 1961 example (pictured) had this happen in 1967 when father was hauling a heavy load of ballast!
The second set lasted a bit longer until 1982!
It is now fitted with the more-durable cast-iron liners that were fitted to later production tractors.
Currently it has 19,400 hours on the clock.
