Seriously, the 698 used the same pile of poo HG eating engine as the 595 and 1080.

If you must have a 600 a 698T is much better.

If you can find one without a completely rotted out cab they actually are quite a good old thing.

Always rated the 699. A lad i know (lurks on here, hello @fergies) had a 2wd one. It was an absolute cracker of a tractor trouble was the cab fell to bits. It was was replaced by a 4x4 399 that was an absolute dog.

Your quite right, the 699 was possibly even better than the 698T with that sweet as a nut 6.354.

Depends on what it was used for of course.

Landini used a very similar cab up until the late 90's and they seem to be in better shape today, perhaps it may be possible to graft it on to an otherwise tidy 600 series without prohibitive expense.

Anything is possible but the 399 is already the most powerful with thatchassis. Either it or the later 4260 and turbo 4270 had two tension rods at the top of the transmission to stop the chassis casting or stitching studs from cracking open, with the tractor breaking in two upwards when heavily loaded. A chassis that otherwise was as strong as a 1972 165’s.
Using a turbo engine is certainly possible, because both the 4270 [i think] and the 4379 [certainly] were turbocharged, but never more than 120hp.
