Best treatment for protein buildup in bulk tank??

As the title , what do people find is the best thing to remove the iodine film/protein accumulation inside a bulk tank ?
I was led to believe Hypo is good at attcking it ,and I do put a strong hypo solution though the washer every now and again ,but has anyone found a magic solution to it - apart from scrubbing that awful powder on it with a brush ?
Its not that it affects our Bactoscan that much (I have managed to get it below 20 quite regularly ) , but its something that annoys me

Leave doing your hot circulation wash until after the tankers been, then fire it in there instead of letting it go down the drain, quick brush round it'll soon come off.

Hypo is a steriliser not a cleaner.
I assume you are using an old style cold water Iodine sprayer.
Best is very hot water + an acid or alkaline based chemical, most are not suited to "hand " cleaning
Speak to your chemical supplier about a suitable cleaner
What about blasting it with the steam cleaner every couple of weeks ?

Not had it in the bulk tank.
Did once have protein build up in my milk collector things before they empty into the milk line.
The issue was caused by incorrect water temperature for the chemical being used.

Dunno if that helps.

Thanks men !! Its an old Desco ice bank tank ,so never been fussed about running a hot wash into it !!
Will have a word with one of the vanmen that calls (the one will sell me anything ,and very often does  ! We had some summer fly repellent dip this time and had the worst summer mastitis ever !!
Food for though in your answers

Defititly of label , but very very strong mix of causic circulation cleaner and a bit of washing up liqued sprayed on softens it up. Either repeat till its gone or vigerous brushing, I do the former, haven't used a brush for years on our open top tanks.
Face mask required, as I say OFF Label.

Main thing I find is to stop it building up in the first place. We don't have a spray system intalled, rinse off really well with power hose , spray with Iodine tank cleaner, leave a few minuites, and rinse off again with power hose and small nozel.
If people scrimp on the pre rinse the brown layer soon builds up.
Still needs a caustic rinse every couple of months. I think the iodine spray is acid.

I would recommend Deosan Coldbrite if you can get it, tried many different brands and i have seen good results from it. It's still recommended you scrub the tank once a week as well to help prevent build up.

also check you are getting decent pressure during the wash, and check that the spray heads are good.

if that's still not helping possibly down to your water type, a Cotswold hot washer would been option.

Thanks TV . Its an old ice bank Desco ,so I dont think the hot washer thing is going to work very well?? I like the enzyme chem treatment idea and I will give that a go too!!
I found this after googling a neutral enzme cleaner
I have found it much cheaper than that , but that explains the mode and it looks 100% safe in food areas !! so I intend to give that a go , by applying it with a hand sprayer and letting it work ,before brushing !!
I hate brushing the tank by hand ,always end up with a bad arm and bashed knuckes !! The Turbolance is sooo much more easily done ;)
Some great tips - thanks folks

What you need is a second hand DX tank with a washer.
As it happens I have a 8200 litre tank coming out of our dairy with compressors and a water heater at a very competitive price.

I was think something like this suitable for older square tanks

I have a lot of customers with the cold wash version and have proved very simple and reliable, the hot wash version is new to me but I think would be a great job as the modern chemicals are all geared towards hot washing now a days.

How have you got on with the neutral enzme cleaner?

Not had it delivered yet ,its on order with Zoro !! Our washer is an old Diversey tank washer unit with mexican hats inside the tank . We have always used an iodine (diluted ) tank wash through it , currently using the Progiene Iodine tank conc , and after a week or so ,I put a strong HYPO mix through for a few days ,during which time I turbolance it and then hand scrub but you can still see the brown protein stain in places and its a right bugger to shift ;)
I think our unit uses a Cotswold pump IIRC

I gave it a try when it was delivered ! Its ok ,not really sure its that good at dissolving the film !! But it seems to be a decent cleaner with a pleasant aroma!
I think the hot water ,acid plus fairy liquid ,is the way forward (apart from the steam cleaner )
I would get in the tank , a while back ,but not now !! lol
The film is quite soft , but it resists the Turbolance ,which is annoying

When the film has gone please give us an update on the best solution.
Whilst my method works ,the chemicals used are seriously strong and another method would be good.
