Best way to finish bbx stores?

got 6 stores at 24m old good shape bbx fr and 2 lim and one bb which is exceptional shape. Rather than just have to bring them home from away ground we are thinking of leaving them in the bunch with the younger ones till october as there is so much grass and then finish them by end of the year. what would be best way of finishing them?

what would you ad lib them on. at moment we have a 16% protein cake for young stores. think its around 170 per ton. could we just mix that with some rolled barley?

Indoors on ad lib on a 14% ration.

Leave them out until Oct and you will be very lucky to sell them fat in 2017.

Nights are cold, no feed quality in grass/ cattle going backwards by the day ( if just on grass ) etc etc

They'll do fine if on adlib outside....pointless wasting straw and letting the grass waste at this time of the year

Straw= valuable muck and buy some store lambs for the grass

Aye in one end and out the other and putting very little weight/ fat cover on them in the process!

How do you work this out? He's going to feed them as lib cereals?

how long do you think they need to be on ad lib for roughly?? will try get some pics up this week of them. def dont want the hassle of bringing them in. if i see there not doing on grass will get them on silage with the grass

Depends on age and weight, 90-120 days

i would be guessing there about 570 kilo at moment. 24 m old

At that age they shouldn't need more than 90 days really

I'd use the 16% up, then go to a 14% finisher, mine are outside and I'll hopefully keep them out until mid September, hopefully they'll be ready for December.

I feed twice a day, but it's very nearly ad lib.
