Best way to manoeuvre “trumpet housing” into position?

What device is best for manoeuvring a very heavy trumpet housing (MF6290) off the rear axle and then replacing it?
Thanks for any suggestions,as very dangerous if it fell!!!!

I am sure people use a trolley jack and bolt on a couple of bars somewhere to steady it (and I guess screw in guide studs to line it up as it goes back on), but I guess one of these is the boy, could you not beg, borrow, steal or rent one?

A hand pallet tuck with some big blocks of wood on is what I used a few years ago to remove and re fit the trumpets on a mf 3670

Just use an engine crane and a strap if you have one?

Trolly jack will do if your stuck, plenty of support and a very flat floor !!

Ideally a floor/engine crane as suggested.

Engine crane is best, I have done it with forklift though.

if you have a forklift leave the wheel on and tines under wheel strap over top of wheel down to tines then it cant escape

Any cheap one will do, trumpets aren’t that heavy. I’d be looking on Facebook for a second hand one.

If you are on your own, ease the trumpet off the seal but before it comes off the studs just get a big set of stilsons over the top of the wheel hub.
Use them to counter balance the weight of the reduction gears.
You can use the same technique to refit.

Engine crane or telehandler. Use straps. They allow a bit of jiggle.
I have used one of those hand winding sack barrows in the past but watch it does goes AOT.

Use the balance beam on the engine crane to get it level. Very useful.

i used an old barrel lifter, worked well for this job straps as said are handy to you have 'wiggle'

Buy a half decent one, damned useful in the workshop for all sorts of jobs.

Mine has brackets welded on to allow it to go on a 3pt linkage, handy if you don't have a loader

Engine crane.

A couple of long studs of the same thread are useful to line up the holes long before normal studs would reach.

I have done them on my own with a forklift with a knackered crowd ram seals and put the bolts in as the trumpet dropped past the hole. The joys of youth!

Engine crane and make up a piece of flat with a couple of holes to go over the wheel studs and held in by wheel nuts then a bit of bar welded on so you can balance it and push it in at the same time.
