4K streaming works perfectly on my wifi and also works from a plug-in mains repeater with a sender wired from the router being a D-Link and the one upstairs being a Netgear. It works with my television as well as my 5K iMac through wifi.Theyre not. Always use wires direct to router, especially now were streaming 4k / hd.
Nothing special about the router as far as I can tell; in fact it looks like a very cheap unit, not like the very well built, large and stylish BT ones.
Fact: 4k only requires 25mbps data stream. It just doesn’t matter whether it arrives by data cable, wifi, or extender device. Remember that 4k streaming of Netflix, for instance, will consume 7GB’s of data per hour
As an aside, I could not get the D-Link extender, which came in a kit, to work with the D-Link router unit. The Netgear unit paired with no problem at all and works very well indeed. Since I just paired them without using an app, the output now is unsecured and called 'Netgear' and has to be chosen as the desired signal on a device's [phone or iPad or Android pad in my case] wifi settings. I now have three options is some places in the house, the old slow BT, the EE 4G, or the Netgea, which just connects to the 4G system through the house mains electricity to the D-Link sender and a data cable to the nearby router.
