Against any country thinking about taxing US digital companies who are presently raping the rest of the world , democrat my arse

But it not against the EU as they large enough to scare the yanks off, it against the UK as we don't have any clout anymore

No, the EU was making noises about taxing businesses providing digital content, the bulk of whom, unsurprisingly, were US based companies. This wasn't policy the UK was dreaming up. It was the EU. Even complete Europhiles can't possibly spin this as the legislation is documented on their own website for petes sake. Curb your anti-UK rhetoric.

And yet the USA has dropped any such action against the EU as it didn't want to get into a trade war with the EU. But it still threatened the UK with "drop you taxes or else"

You aren't getting this. This idea was that of the EU.

No your not getting it, the EU may have start the ball rolling at the request of it members ( of which we were one at the time ) after many many years of people calling for fair taxation, hell even all the major supermarkets were calling for such a tax just a few months now.

But while the idea of fair taxation is still being persuaded by the EU ( and most likely be brought in) and the USA will do little to nothing about it.

The USA has send a message to the UK " your a small week power compared to us and if you want good old US of A companies to pay taxes in your country we going stick tarrifs on you to th same amount as no one messes with uncle Sam"

And cause the UK has no clout they back down, deprivating the UK of much needed income and putting local tax paying UK companies at a disadvantage

Oh, so the USA is ONLY going to tariff the UK?

That sums the situation up well, many countries around the world are wanting to ensure that tech companies pay their fair share of tax in the countries where they operate, to take on Uncle Sam you need a fair bit of cloat, the EU and China are big enough to take them on, the UK and others aren't. This unfortunate truth is seen by many as anti UK, it really isn't it is just the reality of the situation.

Quite possibly. Just send a warning shot across the bows of the EU. A good idea would be to give li'l ole UK a fecking good kicking as a warning to other countries. Easy to hit a small fairly no consequential country (the UK) pour 'encourager les autres.

Think we can fair forget that 'special relationship' even if it ever existed. Anyway I am of too 'like' Meghan as she may have more say than our Billy Bunter and Liz Trussed up.

The USA is the biggest investor in the UK by miles.

You are now saying the UK is 'inconsequential' and that somehow trying to drash the UK is going to concern the EU, which the Europhiles on this thread seem to believe is the almighty political and economic force that the US are afraid of? You can't have it both ways. If you ask me the USA are trying to discourage a tax policy dreamt up by the EU by merely applying individual tariffs to each EU member state.

It's all BS anyway.

It would appear that the EU are not alone in wanting ensure the US tech companies pay their fair share of tax in the countries where they operate, I do see Billy Bunters name among those pressing for change.

Written by Lisa Applin

In July, we opened the applications window for farmers to join our Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot.

The Sustainable Farming Incentive is 1 of the 3 new environmental land management schemes. It sits alongside the future Local Nature Recovery and Landscape Recovery schemes.

Through the Sustainable Farming Incentive, farmers will be paid for environmentally sustainable actions – ones that are simple to do and do not require previous agri-environment scheme experience.

We are piloting the scheme to...
