Big bale theft

Just seen a post on Facebook about a farmer just over the Berwyn mountains in Llanwddyn has had 130 silage bales stolen from a field, taken between 4pm on Friday and 9 am on Saturday.
Are farmers that desperate ?

It was not a farmer who stole my gate with cattle in the field

Maybe the farmer was short of feed and the stolen feed was top quality bales weighing a ton each.
I am sure the insurance will pay out well......

Only if insured for theft of fodder . We had some round haylage stolen several years ago , guess what , “sorry they’re not covered “ .

But these were as they were bales "covered" in wrap

I'm thinking in this day and age of folks farming land here, there, and everywhere, maybe a contractor has collected them from the wrong field ?
Only a guess, stealing that quantity in broad daylight must take some balls......

I remember once....I’d bought a field of straw in the swath....the guy combined it and I said I would bale it the next day....when I went round the next day after lunch with the baler someone had been in and baled it
Never did find out who saved me all that work

And a reasonable amount of time. You wouldn't be in and out in five minutes. How many loads would 130 round bales be? Even a 40ft artic would be at least 2 loads wouldn't it?

Mentioned a red, and a green tractor, and low loader type trailers spotted in the area on FB.

I reckon it was tractors that dunnit.

But even if you find the bales how do you prove they are your bales just because the wrap matches.
It will never get to court.
