It’s been a shyte spell of weather since the end of October one way or another when you look back and still at it
agree been in the job 40+ years and really got to me last 2 years , always extrems , record this , record that, either raining every day or drought , just normal average weather would be fine for once

I've noticed that too. We're constantly going from "wettest on record" to "coldest on record" to "driest on record"... it's always extremes at the moment. Very little settled 'normal' weather.

First year I started on my own in my teens heavily borrowed had 420 gimmer hoggs in an 80 acre allotment in December had a right hap up for only a day spent three days digging them out ended up with somewhere over 100
That was 30 ish years ago
No doubt the weather is taking more dealing with silage is often got wet, ground is wet for months on end, it rains for months on end, ground shows more rush and moss it’s definitely changed

Dad had same number of sheep as me on the home farm and topped most fields on average 3 times a year as he couldn’t keep the grass down enough, always made hay/haylage in June/July. Since 2018 I’ve hardly topped a field and make my haylage in September even though higher % of lambs gone🤦🏻‍♂️

Anything but what we’ve had the last 2 years

2 years?! You're kind!

I think we've had maybe 4 good years since 2010.

Winter '09-10 was the coldest for decades.
Winter 10-11 was equally as cold
The whole of 2011 and 2012 were f**king wet
2013 started wet with bad snows end of March, then drought til July
2014 was OK
2015 was OK
2016 was wet and a bit cold (not much grass before Highland show in late June)
2017 was OK
2018 Beast from the East then drought til August
2019 was OK but got f**king wet towards the end
2020 was f**king wet. Drought 3 months. Then f**king cold and f**king wet the rest of the year.
2021 hasn't thawed out yet and it's almost mid May.

Then we wonder why breeding numbers are down
