2 cruise ships arriving in Glasgow to accommodate some of the 25000 delegates, experts and campaigners who will fly in from all over the world. Thousands of tons of fossile fuel getting burnt so that they can tell us how to live our lives.

On a back drop of soaring fertiliser and commodity prices which could cause food shortages in the year ahead, the self righteous will sit down and decide how many farms will have to be planted in trees for beavers to come and destroy.

You couldn't make it up

My only wish is that the NFU and AHDB aren't there with a trade stand.
'Look everyone, over here, 1% of the electorate, producing 10% of all UK GHG emissions, it really would be politically naive not to hit us over and over again until we collapse'.

Good luck to him. Just hope the taxpayer isn't paying the bill. Who am I kidding? Of course we are.

You forgot, and feeding100% of the UK population!

I wonder if anyone in the UK eats no food produced in the UK ?
Highly unlikely I would think, if there is I’d guess they would be from an ethnic background eating foods from their home country/culture.

Equally unlikely that anyone eats entirely U.K. produced foods, no fruit or veg out of season for a start along with no bananas, oranges or a whole host of other things

This the complete stupidity of the argument, UK farmland may produce 10% of emissions which is highly debatable but it absorbs an incalculable amount of emissions, contrast that with the businesses, cities & towns of this country which emits the vast majority of the UK‘s pollution but has no balancing on the plus side whatever!
FFS businesses are buying up farmland to "offset" their terrible pollution & yet farmers themselves with their own land some how do not qualify for any off set, what a load of bullsh!t!

Amen. That's the easy bit for NFU to point out, but they still haven't twigged that to the average thicko/journalist the words "absorbs" or "removes" is so much more understandable than "sequester".

Quite. Agriculture is unique in that it is the only industry to operate within natures cycles, yet our representative bodies are utterly determined to make us out as - per capita - the most polluting industry.
edit: what the drummer just said :) .

Just another talking shop like Davos etc. They almost always seem to be held in a nice city. The first one was held in Berlin in 1995 and nothing was actually achieved. Still, the UN had nothing better to do whilst the Serbs tightened the noose around Gorazde and got ready for even more darkness in Srebrenica. You would think in this day and age it could all be done remotely, oh well.
