I better go look up my paperwork, I don’t recall reading that in the rules for mine!If you are selected for an rhi inspection you will need proof of Servicing. They are still doing inspections
It appears now the number of new applications has dropped, Ofgem now have the time to carry out inspections. I hear they are looking at not just adequate proof of servicing but how the user is keeping the system in good working order and maintaining expected system efficiencies so asking about pipework inhibitor doesn't surprise me. The sad thing for your customer, and hundreds more around the UK, is that most 'jump on the RHI bandwagon' installers during the boom time of the small scale RHI, failed to design in any kind of system dosing or understood why inhibitor was even required. The truth will out and poorly designed systems will eventually suffer for it in the long term. One of our customers has just had an inspection and as well as proof of servicing they wanted proof that inhibitor was installed. And what brand.
Before you start getting your knickers in a twist it will not be in your paperwork. Here is Ofgems excerpt on obligation.I better go look up my paperwork, I don’t recall reading that in the rules for mine!

“The heating system must be kept in good working order. If, as the result of a site visit, the heating system is found to be in a state of disrepair, or is not working properly, Ofgem may take enforcement action. It is expected that heating systems should be maintained in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. If your heating system stops working such that it is unable to generate heat, you must contact Ofgem within 28 days of discovering this.”
You may be aware that all manufacturers require you to service their (your) equipment annually. This keeps the manufacturing warranty valid. This is what is meant by annual service records otherwise invoice paid service receipts.
Also, your insurance small print may also require this to keep cover valid. If you’ve ever dealt with insurance payout then having this will help your defence if questioned.
If you are biomass certified installer then your good to go. If not, keeping it clean outside of your service will also keep it in good working order. When your boiler is registered on the scheme the installer provides their accreditation number.Ah so I just need to remember to make a note in the diary each time I clean the boiler and ensure I follow the manufactures services guidance. Its in my own best interest that the heating system is kept in good working order.
You have to be careful with water additives to make sure it is compatable with your heat meterOne of our customers has just had an inspection and as well as proof of servicing they wanted proof that inhibitor was installed. And what brand.
We can do this - we have 14 full time Biomass service engineers accross the UK, including one in Telford.Hi rec renewable energy
I never did find a company to service my boiler can I have you contact details please
That is handy to know. Do you work on "Burnit" pellet boilers? I have solved most issues myself so far.. ie dog chewed up the fan power supply and fan thermostat cables and a few instances where the burn back fire quench tank has been triggered and caused the pellets to get solidified in the bottom feed augur. We can do this - we have 14 full time Biomass service engineers accross the UK, including one in Telford.
Perfect location, our engineer is in Bridgnorth! That is handy to know. Do you work on "Burnit" pellet boilers? When it comes to inhibitors how often do you recommend an inhibitor top up or perhaps fully drain down and replace? I am not sure what, if any inhibitor was added to our system! What sort of money would you charge for such a service? We have a 2000T buffer tank and fairly hard water, located 20minute south of Telford.
