Biomass fuel output

We are looking into a biomass boiler to supply heat to a grain drier. Straw fuel seems logical as we could bale our straw instead of chop. What kind of heat output per tonne would you get from wheat, barley and oilseed rape?

Utter bollox at 4000t / kWh. Which tits come up with this!?

How efficient are the boilers, 200%!?

I’m getting between 2200 and 2600 but my boilers aren’t as efficient as some. Getting 3000 would be impressive

@Beefsmith where in the world are you?

We typically see between 1400-1600kw per bale , 550-600kg at 15-18% moisture. That’s an average . When at film demand for long periods we see a 10-15% increase.

Are you going to Cereals? We are ,Manco Energy , on stand 939. We install Lin ka boilers ranging from 1mw up.And have many connected up to dryers. Or for a chat call me on 07507 562954. Andrew

That’s pretty much what I’ve been told. Thank you and yes I’ll pop in at cereals.

4MWh/te is correctfor gross calorific value of straw. the difference between that and what you actually get as useful heat is down to the efficiency of the boiler, how well the combustion is managed etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see less than 2MWh/te being achieved in a small boiler
