My pipe arrived yesterday. Was meant to be Rehau but is in fact Calpex.

its not the most flexible of pipe, and can be an absolute pig to get t-pieces to line straight if you dont let the pipe straighten naturally.
No kidding! Yesterday we had four blokes to man handle this pipe into position... The largest of which was nearly launched into the air at one point! We all admitted to sleeping very well that night! I must admit we probably underestimated this job a little. Tomorrow we are installing a mush thicker brugg pipe but at least its half the length!

Akin to wrestling a dragons tail!

In the process of fitting 630 m of the stuff, the biggest being 100 mm and about 95m long.

We have now perfected the comical task by tying the free end to a digger jib and looping the coil through JCB tines with two drain pipes over them, you then need several (young) lads pulling the reel through and one smug git on the digger watching them fall about as it thrashes about!

Haha! It all sounds very familiar! We eventually chose to tie the quad bike with a rope to the pipe to pull it through a 50m duct. Ours was 135m which was a serious challenge at the start... In fact it was a serious challenge at the end too! Its also 2m out of place to we either need to add pipe or create an elaborate angled and insulated span into the house!

The bit I feared the most (other than the concrete pad being the wrong size to sit the boiler on) was being a meter or two short on the 14 runs.

I worked out it would cost around £1000 to do the joins so bit the bullet and allowed a few meters extra and take the hit. Now have lots of 2m length for sale is anyone is interested

we tend to tie the pipe either to the minidigger to pull into the trench, or the apprentices belt, and have the coil lifted by the tractor with tynes together and some 6" pipe over them. Its always a chew.

@Recoil , have you queried the price difference with your supplier between the Rehau and Calpex

Our pipe is about a meter short of the house wall... Not sure what we're gonna do yet!?!

No, cost for man hole, fittings and faffing about. impossible to keep them dry so always going to suffer heat loss form there but if calcs are allowed for of 3% max the heat loss is only a pain as you use more fuel, not lose RHI.

The pipe is up out of the ground just a meter short of the wall. I think if we can create the pipe extensions I can create an elaborate boxed housing and fill it with celotex or glass wool. Hopefully that will keep us from loosing any heat.

'Mind the roses', 'yes dear'

'Darling don't flush the loo for a while, some twit never marked the sewer pipe on any plans nor taped it'

No one cared back then about marking any services, good job I am handy with epoxy resin joint kits!

Very warm house is so worth it though!

that all sounds very familiar! I put a blue warning tape on the pipe but as I've chosen to put the calpex pipe down at 900-1000mm it should be well out the way of any future digs!

Yeh I found the main cable to the farm buildings when trenching for our system
For some reason it did a loop, mus`nt of had a hacksaw handy when they put it in
Lots of sparks when digger bucket cut through it

I've seen a few ideas for completing the pipework entrance to a property. This is my idea... a biomass beehive! Will use some celotex insulation to surround the foil backed poly insulation. Hopefully that will be enough.
