Bird flu national lockdown

Just read as of the 14 were on national lockdown for bird flu.
My hens free range over 30 acres and roost/feed in an old caravan, they'll be very cramped if i lock them in there all day, but I'm unsure of what else to do, advice says to keep them from mixing with wild birds.

I read the advice as "Whether you keep just a few birds or thousands, from 14 December onwards you will be legally required to keep your birds indoors, or take appropriate steps to keep them separate from wild birds. We have not taken this decision lightly, but it is the best way to protect your birds from this highly infectious disease."

Ring the hotline for advice. I expect appropriate steps is shut them in.

I’ve got 2 groups of 20ish with 45x30ft enclosures, can I net them to stop wild birds in or is it locked inside only? Going to cull 10 and share out the rest of the population.

Any info on shooting game in the advice and guidance, specifically water fowl?

I cant find the actual legislation for this “lockdown”. Last time the legislation included a get out that put their welfare first. Can‘t currently think of a way to humanely/economically secure my four hybrid pet chickens.

Finding hard to believe that this is a national order to house poultry and yet unless I had seen it on here , I would not know anything about it ! I would of thought they would have sent at least an e mail to all holding number s ?.

Are you registered as a poultry keeper?
I've received regular email and text updates about cases and the housing order.

Not sure how they're supposed to keep up with the myriad hobby keepers🤔
It must have been on general news - a few non farmer friends have asked how it affects us.
But we're only small scale.
