Bitersaltz vs liquid Magnesium ?

Having seen decent results from Magnesium with fungicide applications here I'm pretty convinced that along with Manganese t's a micronutrient worth using routinely on our soil types. Bitersaltz has been our cheap go-to product but it's not the most users friendly when filling a 6000L sprayer tank !

FarmDeals have a offer on 9% liquid IBC at 46p/L - I think that makes it cheaper than then Bitersaltz even at 30% ? and certainly nicer to use !

The question is will the liquid product work as well as the solid ?

If you do the maths like for like liquid is nearly 2.5 times dearer.
5kg(800gms mgo) bitter salts =£1.75
To get the same gms from liquid you'd need 8.9lt which would cost £4.09 but I would assume you'll need and use less liquid perhaps 3lts/ha so is 37p cheaper.

What about a combined mag and manganese product in an IBC or are not that many farmers that keen to use magnesium?

I think such products exist but would they be cheaper than an IBC of 15 % Magnenees at 46p and an IBC of Magnesium at 46p and then mixing and matching in the sprayer tank to suit ?

Thanks

I guess the liquid has wetters etc so lower rates to achieve the same effect maybe ?

i stopped using liquid mang last year coz couldnt see much if any benefits on my crops,
yes i bought it in ibc form also.
But now use other products one of them is Master Manganese Plus in power form but its got far more other trace elements in so in theory should be a much better product.
Yes its dearer but proof is in the end result i guess.
Ive heard good reports on it elsewhere.
Another ive got to add into some of my wheats along side this is Magphos K
maybes its all snake oil who knows...

Back to OP tho
ive been told not all them 1000lt IBCs filled with so called Liquid Mang are all the same quailty
who do you believe?

Bittersaltz is sulphate, not nitrate. You've got to compare like with like. I used to use nitrate as I had applied plenty of sulphur other ways.
Only used Bittersaltz on T2 or T3 on wheats here in the past nowt else
Bulky product mind. cheap enuff tho, well it used to be,
Old well est Agronomist swore by the stuff.

Could you heave the bittersaltz in your liquid fert home brew? Or premix bittersaltz in ibc?

Do you do spraying?
Never operated a sprayer once & dont intend too when ive a very trustwrothy lifelong contractor that is fab at the job & runs several high clearance Multidrive 24m sprayers
Do all my Fertilizer tho, lovely job no lifting of 100's of containers !!
I handle all the empties tho about 4 times before ive got rid the of pesky things

The trick with Bittersaltz is to tip the bags into a grain bucket and pre-mix it a the fert mixing plant (or bowser), then draw it straight out of the tank when mixing the fungicide brew.

If it was mixed in with the fert then most of the nozzle streams wouldn't hit the leaf, and you wouldn't benefit from the wetters already in the fungicide.
