BKT Tyres-Any good?

Like most things, you get what you pay for. IMO BKT are an ok general purpose tyre, but if you are an arable farmer you probably wouldn't want them on your cultivating tractors.

You could give up cultivating and fit the BKT’s and save all round.

Seriously though I used to run all Michelin XM 108’s then the Multibibs, Multibibs lasted longer than the 108’s. I used to get 7000 hrs out of a set of Multibibs however when one of the tractors came up for a change I couldn’t ignore the fact that I could get more than two sets of BKT’s for the same money as the Michelin’s. That tractor has done another 4000 hrs on the BKT’s and I can’t see the difference between them and the new ones I fitted to another tractor a few months ago. On the 40k tractor the BKT’s are good. On the 50k tractor the BKT’s make a lot of noise flat out but it disappears completely if you drop below 53k. We do lots of road work, grass, loader work on concrete and arable work although any cultivation ( if any ) tends to be shallow. Only occasionally do we do ploughing and subsoiling. The performance of the BKT’s in all aspects of our work has equalled the Michelin and, unless they suddenly melt off, look as though they will last longer. All our tractor tyres are 65 series profile.

The 65 series bkt is alot longer lasting than a 70 or 85 series

That's knackered my plan then ☹
If ur wantin a long lastin loader tractor tyre either a trelleborg or vredestien is ur answer. But run them hard as both brands are known to crack if run soft especially the trelleborg. My choice would be the vredestiens as i know a set on a 6420 loader tractor that lasted ages

Not for a loader. Valtra n141 50k. Mostly steep grassland or road work . 580/70r38. Vredestein or bkt look the best option to me

I find the B K Ts a bit lumpy if you know what I mean it feels like the wheels are the same shape as a fifty pence peice
Thats just the tread pattern at low speed it feels like ur steppin from 1 tread onto the next whereas the vredestien has a long tread down the center which leaves smoother running at low speeds. Good for cutting hedges and the liķe

have 85 series bkt here, never a first choice. however never had 65 series to compare but the 85 series are crap for wear, grip and ride. some day when i can afford it eother of our 2 big tractors will get a set of anything else, probly linglong but we are only a general purpose tractors doing mixed road grassland work 3-400hrs a year so price does come high on the list.

Friend has recently put on linglong, gri and starrmaxx tyres as thats all he could get at short notice, i was actually surprised at the starrmaxx as last time i seen them mabe 8 years ago they were pure 💩 bargain basement tyres but they actually look good now with a decent tread pattern and would be slightly harder rubber than the linglongs so should last longer, his were all 65 series tyres, seen a set of linglong 70 series goin onto a tractor after that and they are woeful lookin same style tread pattern as old firestones, looks bit like a pear drop, i deffo wouldnt of been happy with them and they totally destroyed the look of the tractor which had bald goodyears on it before and looked better with them

fitted the past 12 months here.
540/65r28 on mf 35 happy with them
320/85r28? on mf35 happy better than same size bkt for grip
540/65r38 on mf399, driver wrapping with it and drawing silage more than happy, replaced 16.9 taurus 30%
420/85r34 gri, mf390, grip well but not too impressed with how they look, replaced 50%bkt same size linglong not availble.
420/70r28(14.9r28 in 70 profile) Advance-not a clue about them, ts115 and loader again linglong not available.

have fitted 4 sets of tianli before with 2 sets still being used and grip/wear is good we find for the money but again general work and all 85series. first 65 series tires fitted here are those listed above for fertilizer sowing and such work

really depends what you expect the tires to perform as to what you buy. i dont care how they look i prefer how they perform on our hills
