If this leads to a review of policy then, imho, we rural folk should demand a clear CROSS-PARTY statement of policy regarding private firearm ownership in the UK.

This incident is tragic and looks like it could have been prevented (although he may have killed using other methods based on emerging reports of his mental state). B

Seems more than ever we are missing having the local copper who lived locally and could spot things. Years ago he would of kept an eye on someone like this if he was already known to the police.
I think the internet is great in a lot of ways, buying things, farming forum, on line reviews, searches for information etc, etc, but this case shows the negative side of the internet, allowing those with mental instability and extreme beliefs to mix with others who are the same, and this allows them to normalise their beliefs and I think helps remove the "chock" on actions, that conscience would be.
