Blackthorn in my arm

got blackthorn in my arm midday yesterday, didn't notice until later that afternoon, I got the thorn out and left it at that, it was swollen and red and painful but I thought I'd be right.
Still no better this morning so I went to the local hospital first job and they pulled the tip of the thorn out.
Does anybody know how long it will take to go down? I had to mash up my weetabix and drink it this morning! No wrist movement, can't even pick up a hammer or undo my fly

doctor didnt seem to think it was infected this morning, just some puss in the hole.
will it be worse just because its on the lumpy knuckle part of my wrist?
its currently throbbing and gets very stiff if i dont move my fingers.
i cant have pen and strep, im allergic to penicillin

the gf has just noticed my hand has started to swell now, what should i do? A & E now? or doctors in the morning
Had same thing 3 years ago, thorn in palm of hand, A&E, antibiotics, gp next day as my hand had swollen badly, back to A&E then 3 days in hospital and a lot of antibiotics by a drip. Perfectly fine now but you must get it seen to asap !

Best to have it looked at. There are alternatives to Penicillin. I got a jab of a Whitethorn stem in the shin about this time 2 yrs ago. There was a bright red disc around the spot the next morning. Went to A&E and got antibiotics and a dressing. Local Doc removed the dressing with bated breath 2 days later. It had subsided. I've heard it said rightly or wrongly that the rising sap at this time of year makes them particularly potent.

I got a black thorn in my face, swelled up into a huge boil right next to my eye and took ages to go but never came to a head.

I tried calf boluses to cure it first but they didn't work, then had to explain what I had taken to the doctor at the local hospital.

They prescribed another antibiotic that didn't work either, so I took both together. That sorted the job. (y)

Similar to my mate who got ringworm, rubbed creosote on it!
