Medium crushed glass for me. Cheapest option. Dusty bugger though. Would love to go iron oxide but cost is a lot more. Also depends what you’re blasting.

Old farm machinery . Some lighter section stuff

If you have a dedicated room that has a really good sealed floor then iron oxide. If it’s out side or some may get recovered then crushed glass. £150 per tonne. 2-3 times that for iron. Glass leaves a nice finish. Big blast boys not far from me use it on general blasting as it’s cost effective.

I’ve been using J blast superfine for years, find it leaves a good finish and a decent work rate.
Just had a 1.5t pallet, think it was £170/t in 25kg bags.

If youv proper air fed mask how is sand dangerous as your not breathin it in
The sand very quickly abrades down to fine particulates that stay in the air for a long time, plus once the dust settles it only takes a light puff of air to stir it back up into the air. The crystalline structure of glass is somewhat less prone to breaking down into such fine dust & is therefore much safer.
