NFU - best for over 50s, but all motor insurance has gone up, sometime snealry doubling, mine has gone from 400 to 700 (Aviva), price comparison websites found nothing better: https://www.which.co.uk/money/insurance/car-insurance/car-insurance-for-the-over-50s-axU3I0l38fQp

My insurance with the NFU went down a fiver or so when I put business use on it. 400 or so quid. You need to look at what cover your getting with the NFU and compare it with what their competitors offer. There might be somethings in the policy that you don't want or need with the NFU that the competitors aren't including.

Also, I know where their office is, they speak English, and if you make a claim there's no pissing about.

Down here in the south west we use Cornish Mutual . Cheaper than any of the others especially for a fleet policy. Ok we haven't had loads of claims but the ones we have they have always settled quickly with out quibbles.

We’re all being played like a deck of cards with motoring costs.
Booked a Renault Traffic van in to the dealers yesterday, asked the cost and for the year 4 service at 35,000 miles it’s £685. Engine oil, oil filter, cabin filter, brake fluid, and everything else it’s inspection and parts and fitting extra.
The (male) receptionist said it’s “main dealer“ prices, so I pointed out they were charging the same as Porsche main dealer prices for a basic van, while Paragon Porsche charge £690 for a ‘major’ service on a 911 Turbo.
Cancelled the appointment, told him I won’t be back, booked it in to a local independent.

Both myself and Mrs "Y" have gone back to NFU Mutual this year for car insurance.

They're never going to be the cheapest but this year they were within an acceptable amount of the cheapest to make them worth changing to.

I guess renewal time next year will tell the tale but if they're ridiculously dearer I'll just leave them again.

House insurance with them was still out of all reason though.

I change all the time , it's a pita but there's no loyalty from insurance firms
