Block cutter to shear grab

Block cutter broke down again today on a long weekend.. going to replace with shear grab asap. Cutter left a supreme silage face, can a shear grab even come close to the face of a cutter? Reliability trumps aesthetics so a shear grab still is coming.

Like most things, depends on operator!!

Keep them sharp. Buy one with the big teeth as they cut better than small teeth or solid blade at the front.

Shear bucket makes a better job of the face than a shear grab,you don’t get the little bits where the tines leave,and leaves the floor clean on the bottom

Trick is dont take a bite too big for the grab

Another vote for the shear bucket, my pro dig leaves a tidier face than any shear grab I’ve had. I did try an AP from cherry products, even better cut but just can’t get enough in the bucket.
The triolet is supposed to be the dogs doo dahs but with a price tag to match.

Been running shear buckets for 23 years,leave a lovely face and I’ve never touched a blade on one to sharpen them,current one is 6 years old

We can get around 800-1000kgs in our prodig one. @eulb has a triolet if I remember correctly

8 foot and as others have said, up to about a ton of wetter silage, more like 750 at 30% dm and about 500 wholecrop. Up to 500 blend

I really like the plastic grab as it makes working with bales very clean and easy.

Yes, it works very well.....................unless you try doing it over the feeder wagon at which point it seems much less reliable.

I now take plastic off first then load wagon.

Our prodig shear grab is 7' and will hold something similar.

Judging by his photo I’d say that was the biggest, same as mine, I have mine on a 735 manitou which handles it fine but would be a big lump on a small handler.
