evening all.
So were planning laying the concrete of the shed i keep going on about.
Had a guy round today who will do the powerfloating etc. he mentioned a type of metal shuttering for the slab, but i cant remember what he called it, and i cant find it on HSS or Speedy hire.

Someone here must know what its called, and where to hire it from
Apparently, it makes life so much easier than using lengths of timber etc.

TIA

Hire the road forms ,, I got some from the scafolding company I used to work for ,,they dont bend or fall over ,easy to clean down between each pour and saves on nails

i think were going to. i just coiuldnt find them without knowing what to call them. In my workd we would call them shutters...

They come in 4-6 and 8 inch ,,you will get the spikes to hold them ,,iff they dont meet where you want them you can use a strong bit of timber to make up the gap

The professional concrete folk spray them with oil, i think, before they start pouring as well as it makes them easier to lift and clean afterwards

I try to remember to paint mine with soya oil before hand but usually forget, waste oil is so horrid.

I also like to dig in a half 4" block under the joins between formers, it gives a solid base to bone the formers.

That's what I do, also it helps as they're in a stillage in the yard. I think they were around £30 for 3m 6" with pins.

I think the pros have a mould release, I can't imagine many sites letting waste oil on the job!

Speedcrete are a good firm to deal with for any tools or advice. I got my forms from a local scaffolding supplier, but I'm sure that you can hire them for very little.
