Good news George may back the horticulture vote. Looking at the accounts posted earlier I am surprised that the beef & lamb sectors have not made a move to get a vote. Nearly £17 million in levy it could be that they don't realise just how much is taken. The Potato and horticulture sectors have to pay annually so the cost is more apparent. So keep up the good work and others may join us. To me the ahdb has become a total waste, in fact I find the amount of money take out of the industry shown on these accounts quite shocking.

Do you advertise your own produce or just hope that folk buy it? Most beef and lamb producers don't advertise for themselves, but rely on and reap the rewards from the advertising done on their behalf by ADHB. That alone is worth the levy for me (albeit I pay to the Scottish partnership and rely on their collaborative efforts with AHDB). Roughly speaking, every pound spent on advertising will return many more in increased sales (which brings me back to when and why I joined this thread).

Some folk are odd. Plenty time to badmouth an organisation that is there to aid business improvement, rather than put any effort into extracting value from their levy that is funding said organisation.
Look spud I am just one of many that is complaining about ahdb , but now we will probably have the best of both worlds you will be able to keep your ahdb and we will be able to do what should have happened years ago and kick them into touch. The only thing that really grates is the minister said the ahdb doesn’t really work for horticulture, I expect my cheque in the post.

It seems the non potato growers know everything there is to know about potato growing and the wishes of growers.

That's enough now veg/flower men, let us make our own minds up.

Thank you

(did you pass the cap round outside Tesco to fund this? Apparently you all turnover umpteen million but only make about £2.50 between you, while other veg growers do it for fun. ***discaimer****Made up figures, so it fits with your general behaviour, and on the back of your comments further up the thread.
There were potato growers who supported the veg and flower growers with their campaign and they started the ball rolling. Now I a potato grower appreciate their support with ours.

I haven't seen the sales of potatoes or veg go through the roof lately or for that matter milk or pork.

Your track record would suggest that you lack skills in extracting value, but try to make up for it by bending the truth and bullying. A yesterday's man.

You are a poor loser spud ,what I find strange is I grew between 250 and 300 acres of potatoes up until 5 years ago , I built 3 1000 ton cold stores , I bought 4,000 new bins and 4 years before I finished a nearly new dewulf , I started to realise the trade was going towards contractual arrangements and there is no money in that , so l wasn’t a small grower but do you know I never felt the need ever to call the ahdb , we only ever grew piper and would have carried on but the poor return made it a non starter. I am sure you are will manage without their interference.

A poor loser? What have I 'lost'?
You talk like you're better than everyone else, but you're a quitter in the spud game, if you'd taken your blinkers off and done some cpd you could of made 10% pot instead of chewing your rig out for 1% on some veg. No wonder you thought there was nowt in it chucking cash about on fancy kit for those few.
Nowt so strange as bitter jealous old folk trying to dictate the future for those with a longer eye on the game.

Quite sad, really.

Why are all the potato farmers I know, most growing significant amounts, all telling me they will vote against ahdb. I think you are in the minority spud!

Ten out of nearly 2000growers. Lots then.

I do not grow any potatoes @Spud But out of interest I asked someone who holds a National position within the sector as to the outcome of the potato vote. If their analysis of the situation is correct I fear you are in the minority and will be disappointed. Of course it may be the fact that my source has called it wrong ........
