Blood sucking ahdb

Simon w are you a company because the ahdb will not supply private individuals, yes it's all horticultural and potato growers we might have you on our list ,I think we already have 600 potato growers that should have received a ballot paper this morning or will shortly ,there is a press release today to 80 magazines and papers also television,if you could get some of your fellow potato growers to email [email protected] we will send you a ballot paper it comes with stamped addressed envelope please try and get it back to us has soon has possible.thanks

The amount of livestock farmers complaining about the ahdb to our campaign means we could almost force a vote in this sector,I am learning a new language has well what does rotating a bull mean surely not turning him upside down

Rotating a bull, haven’t a clue, never heard that expression, you might have to check with whoever mentioned that to you

BTW, is that you in the FW?

I'd say that the middle photo is the one who's most like Tom Cruise.
Think we can rule out the one on the right as if I’ve read it right, he’s a flower grower so just to be different I’m going to say white rabbit is the man on the left...................although o don’t see the resemblance to Tom cruise but then again, it’s a long time since top gun so he might have aged.

I’d take the bet....

(Will PM you later.)

Whatever I have said about highland mule I take it all back, while we are in Scotland the chap who was complaining to us about the ahdb is a livestock, cereal, and potato grower from East Lothian ,He was saying he had been on a ahdb monitor farm and what a waste of time that was they spent most of the time arguing about whether they should rotate the bull ,tarw Coch couldn't tell me

I think rotate is to bring in fresh genes to your herd.
(We'd probably say, I think we could do with a new bull) ?

So is this a case of, The Rebel gate 3 ?

From what you say and at a guess, possibly take one bull out from cows and put another in to give the one a rest. It would also have the advantage that if there was a problem with one bull hopefully another would catch the cows, possibly next cycle depending on when bulls were changed around.

I'm at a loss. The article says that it would only take 70 growers in the fruit and veg section to trigger a ballot on whether the horticultural levy should continue. How hard is it to get 70 people to demand one? What's the point of this privately organised ballot of fruit and veg growers? The AHDB aren't bound by it, so whats the point?

Post 83. Seems that the OP doesn’t trust the AHDB to run the ballot properly. I can’t see this ending well, the more I think about it.

Goweresque with all do respect we had a review in 2018 with the results published a few months ago with one conclusion it was an absolute farce,150,000 eligible to vote 971 replied less than half a percent the ahdb staff must have thrown a party.Defra and the ahdb did a great job keeping it under the radar ,why did they not send everyone a notification they are keen enough to continually send old out of date rubbish in the post, back to the results of the 971 replies 380 were non levy payers how the hell did they get in there and more importantly how come they found out about the review, this group were only going to vote one way since they receive grants (look at the accounts there is a list has long has your arm) so we decided to conduct our own ballot even though the ahdb and may I say the nfu have less than helpful,we managed to get 1600 names out of the ahdb out of a possible 4300 when we questioned them they said that was all the companies and they were not allowed to release private names, then last week we had a email saying there had been an oversight and they had found another 200 ,we may not succeed in getting the numbers there might be ballot papers left behind the clock or in the in tray but we tried and with one hand tied behind our back ,but there is going to be a lot of pain if we don't get some result a lot of growers supplying catering ,pubs and restaurants are really in trouble, the ahdb solution is if you write in and plead they will let you defer till next spring now that's when things get really messy we have a quite a few growers who pay between 50,000 to 100,000 pounds a year now we will have growers next spring having to find £100,000 to £200,000 now what will be ahdb next move ,first they send a solicitor letter with a few extra hundred pounds added ( I wonder if the solicitor got a vote) or a court order either way a rock and a hard place come to mind

Highland mule if the ballot went our way we would go back to George eustice who we were talking to at the beginning of our campaign and may I add was supportive of a voluntary levy,if we don't get the numbers well we have at least helped the potato growers according to the fresh produce journal they are going to reduce their levy, but we have a lot of growers saying that they will let the ahdb take them to court which will make great news for all the press ,just think of the headline farmers taken to court for growing vegetables and treated like common criminals.

will you refuse to pay ?

If enough of us band together yes ,what ahdb are relying on is that we don't want a court order against us because it would cause untold damage,I really don't think the average farmer realises the disgraceful way these people conduct the running of this organisation ,let's face it most of them have no need to talk to the ahdb from one year to another and how the nfu works so closely to them which leaves you nowhere to go,no wonder their membership has fallen from 55,000 to 49,000 in short space of time

Are you sure about that?
If your vote isn’t following the official procedure surely the courts will uphold the law no matter how many vote against the ahdb if you use that as a reason not to pay
