Blood sucking ahdb

never said I didn't mention smaller growers, I said we hadn't heard from them
I know I shouldn't assume but I think it reasonable to assume that a small grower wouldn't turn over so much
A "small" UK grower still has a de facto high revenue that is basically taxed. It's not the same structure as we pay on levy or cereal farmers pay on area

i would imagine even a small horti grower would have a bigger turnover than a big combineables farmer

I know, your not telling me anything
what part of "we haven't heard from them" don't you understand ?
and what part of "if" they get value from AHDB don't you understand ?
your creating an argument where there isn't one JP and coming from me that is quite something

That needs both of these

We are still waiting for all the other requests under freedom of information then we could move on to that an gof, these people seem to have a unwritten law of their own,I suppose nobody has ever questioned what they are doing since they were formed and they just do not know how to deal with it.
Speaking of people who are a law unto themselves, is it really too much trouble to use the reply button or is it being deliberately awkward?

I think you could carry on arguing with yourself on that one ! It's worked in the past well enough..........:ROFLMAO:

Anyhoo I don't even get to the lower slopes of micro business as a poor peasant cow keeper (or as Mr Watkins once observed from his private account when he was on here my "handful of cows")

What a load of rubbish. I send a lamb to market or slaughter I pay a per head levy. It doesn't make a difference if it's £300 or £80. Please at least get your facts right

That’s true, but they average around £80-£100 over a year. Unless you have some magic elixir of course, or are incredibly lucky with the markets.

When was the last time you sent a £300 lamb?

What a daft example. I don't know the figures but as an example an acre of cauliflowers or glasshouse of tomatoes may yield 5 tonnes or 50 tonnes dependent on the weather and a supermarket may offer 10p per kilo or £9 . The AHDB still base their levy on turnover revenue for horticulture not acres and not per lamb

We all know there’s variance JP, but they average out at roughly 0.5% of turnover for levy - assuming you can see past the dodgy maths put around by the OP of course.

It was in my email inbox and I liked the format of five year average/ annual cycle.
Well worth the levy all on it's own I'm sure

I don't see AHDB or our trade negotiators as the sharpest in the box for our futures and that's rather a shame. On technical topics I'd say the French with their testing stations and other initiatives are streets ahead of us and on commerciality I fear the Danes, the Dutch and even the Americans wipe the floor with us
