Blood sucking ahdb

Purely because of your attitude exhibited on here I have desire to see your campaign succeed, but I realise that this might not be the view of the sector as a whole and do respect that. I want a landslide one way or another though, because history has shown us that close results generally result in nobody actually winning, and both parties whining.
I suppose that is a fair comment, but I was disappointed to see your comment a couple of days ago hoping we failed.

sorry - I made a typo on my post above. I have no desire to see your campaign succeed, and I do indeed hope you fail. Purely because of your attitude.
Go back to post one of this thread and have a read through again. I’m certain you will understand my opinion and that of many others if you do so.

Well at least one bit of very good news we have triggered the ballot ,shame it looks like it's going to take 4 months to hold it,just makes you wonder how they will use that time (that took me 5 seconds)

Given this thread started at the beginning of June, and you've wasted God knows how long prior to that setting up and running your own private opinion poll, and only just got around to sending in the formal letters demanding a statutory levy ballot, I hardly think you're in a position to complain about the AHDB taking too long to organise things.

we have some more good news this morning the largest grower in the country has come on board, which means we have three out of the four largest growers in the country in total about 40,000 acres, you see E if everybody was happy with your old company there would not be so much discontent, that would mean the ahdb would have no need to go on a propaganda excise because we would all be won over years ago,to say they are going to change says it all.

I don't think there is a single person at AHDB who thinks that everyone is happy with them, an that certainly isn’t what I said.

They know they do well with some farmers and poorly with others. I think you mentioned not wanting KE in an earlier post, but I think the worry from their end is that a lot of their work goes unnoticed by the grower, research gets picked up by agronomists and becomes standard practice and if they don’t try and get growers to come to events etc. then how will they ever know what the levy buys them?

No surprise to me that you have support, question is how much and then what happens after the result is in - which ever way it goes!

we don't know which way it will go either but we had to try, the trouble is unless you are in the veg industry you not have a clue how difficult it is, I have said on here a number of times that we have had 15 large grower /packers go out of business in a relatively short space of time,we just haven't got spare cash to throw around ,if you look at the accounts of the business that are left virtually all but a few are losing money.so looking at it cynically the ahdb didn't help them,I see mr saphir is quoting a long list of things they are going to do ,the fact is he cannot sort anything out that has to be done by the person at the sharp end ,ourselves, unless he is going to stand in our farmyard in the mornings when only half a team turn up ,then sort out the ones that are still drunk from the night before and send them home,I see he has several pie in the sky ideas the truth is like a lot people who come onto the farm with advice and we get plenty he would find it a challenge to farm a window box,you have only look at the Dutch who after demonstrating outside The Hague for weeks managed to close their equivalent to the ahdb down ,has Dutch horticulture gone into meltdown ,of course not its the best in the world,I speak to several Dutch growers and they are pleased to see the back of it.
