Blood sucking ahdb

I am not talking about the AHDB as a whole I am sure that plenty that work for them do a good job for not a huge amount of money.
I am talking about the overpaid gravy train parasites at the top of this and other organisations, allot of them are the same just a bunch of greedy buggers
while we are on the subject of organisations the Nfu have not come out of this smelling of roses either, they completely washed their hands of us when they realised their friends at the ahdb were in danger of losing their jobs, minette batters and Ali capper have been told it was unacceptable to treat fully paid up members in this way and we are going to get an apology from higher up .It just goes to show Ali capper grows hops and pays no levy and receives £57,000 a year from the mutual and as no interest helping ourselves, and yet she was on television complaining about the pubs being shut and the cheeky so and so was asking the government to step in compensate hop growers.

The nfu are champion side steppers when the going gets rough.
They say they are standing behind you ( with their hand in your wallet)
But when the bullets start flying they sidestep behind the nearest rock, then they crawl under it.

I'm glad you said that. Knowing what my friend puts into her job at AHDB, I have found much of this quite hard to read.
nothing against the ordinary (if thats the right word) worker and I am not against the AHDB, its those that are paid ridiculous amounts of money that others are forced to pay in

I’m not sure I really want to get involved in this thread. I will leave you all to continue. I suspect others may be in the same boat.

I came on to this thread for the same reasons, to say that whatever WR thinks of the end product - and I respect anyone's views on that - the team at AHDB work hard and want to do the best for farmers in the sector they work in. Sadly it hasn't helped and there are still lots of references to staff 'sitting at home doing nothing' - which is hard to ignore when you know it is wrong

I wouldn’t be too worried. Most of the readers on here are intelligent enough to know that WR can’t back up his claims and is writing from a position of ignorance and bitterness. If you want a real laugh, go back to some of his early posts...

which part of what I said was wrong ?
I think it is disgusting, set up for life after a few years of doing four fifths of feck all, more money than many that are paying her will see in a lifetime, it is greed its fecking disgusting and I don't see how anyone can say different
Is she really as useless as some seem to think?
If she is, good on her for taking the money for so long, nice work if you can get it.

The real question is who gave her the job if she wasn’t up to it and who was supposed to be keeping tabs on her?

Who is overseeing ahdb to check levy payers are getting value for money and are they up to their job?
Wonder how well that pays

sorry but I don't think anyone is worth that sort of money when it comes from people that are forced to pay it, full stop

The reality is that anyone who is very good at what they do can command a top wage and if they’re versatile, if not where they currently work then elsewhere.
Wether Jane King is worth anything like the sort of money she’s being receiving is another matter

highland mule seems very good at dishing the dirt ,I just wonder if he would have the balls to run with a campaign such as this I very much doubt it.Sandpit farm I am just interested to know how these people find enough work to keep them busy ,how many times can you keep talking sheep, cattle, cereal or veg ,my neighbour is the largest pumpkin grower in Europe and like ourselves have paid tens of thousands into this organisation, he got so incensed because they don’t even research pumpkins so he went up to see them, when I asked him what he thought he said don’t go up here without a sick bucket , he said he wished he was a coffee salesman instead of growing pumpkins.

If they are so good at their job why have we all these levy payers wanted rid of them ,highland mule probably wants nursemaiding I don’t.

She can "command" off somewhere else for all I care
someone else would do the job just as well for a fraction of the price

The question is not whether AHDB staff work like stakhanovites every hour that god sends, the point is they are doing a job that the people paying for it don't (in many cases) want to pay for but have to, on pain of imprisonment (ultimately). No one would care tuppence about how hard AHDB staff worked (or didn't) if every levy payer was a volunteer. Then if they thought the AHDB was useless they could stop paying, and if they thought it was brilliant they could continue paying. Its the forced element of its funding that grates, can't you see that? Lots people are having money taken off them that they don't want to pay, but have to. And they are not happy about it, regardless of how hard the AHDB staff work.

what do you expect Ali Capper to do @White rabbit ?
She is a Director of the British Hop Association so I would expect her in that role to campaign for pubs and beer sales.
Her work with NFU Mutual is a separate issue and of no consequence to AHDB.
I would expect that she pays AHDB levy on the apples and pears that she produces on their farm.
Ali is a very busy lady 😉

Well, it would seem she’s off, wether her replacement will work for a fraction of the price is another matter......,,,...,,,, i very much doubt it................nor am I confident they will provide value for money but I do not get a say in the appointment or the salary
