No I haven’t. Unfortunately Macallan prices have gone through the roof. Dread to think what a dram of 18 year old costs. Take a good few hours cutting cabbage to buy a bottle 🤣🤣🤣

But the barley is same price today as when the stuff was put into bonded warehouse 18 years ago!! And that says it all about commodity agricultural production.

Nice to see HM and WR joshing for once - truce - is it Xmas day!?

So, just to clarify, Mark Coulman or George Dunn has told you that both himself and Bryan Griffiths have an agreed position for the two organisations to campaign to disband the AHDB? Strange that, when George's position last month was one of reform rather than disbanding and NSA have nothing other than positive stories regarding AHDB on their website for the last year.
George rang and said he is total agreement with our petition.

Just over 7 hours cabbage cutting 😮
Could always do like we did once with cider when stitching corn and have a jar in each corner, I was well gone time we got to the middle thats if we did I don't remember that bit.
Perhaps @White rabbit should do like they used to and pay them in cider, they would be raring to go next day :ROFLMAO:

That's a bit different from what you claimed before - that he saw no benefit from the AHDB. Incidentally, being in favour of a ballot is the published position of George, so no real surprise there.

When are you running the petition anyway? All we've seen is a very loaded questionaire and then a small letter writing campaign to request a ballot.

When are we running the petition ,the ahdb are holding the ballot on the 13th of jan when they have ran their propaganda campaign,of course they are going to disqualify 300 plus of levy payers out of 1400 and any levy payer who can’t be bothered to vote will be deemed to be in favour. They can sort another ballot out after Friday because we will be triggering the potato sector with another trip to the Ivory towers on Friday afternoon.

Nicholas Saphir has been quoted in multiple papers and magazines saying that only those who vote will count. I expect you know that WR, I do not understand why you feel the need to lie.
He has only started saying this because we have continually complained to them that what they were proposing was unfair ,that rule would have stood had it not been challenged,I suppose you will have also heard that if less than 50% cast a vote it will not be valid, also I notice you have not mentioned the fact that they are trying to bar anybody who through no fault of their own cannot pay even like ourselves may have paid hundreds of thousands in the past unless of course you enter into a repayment plan ,and ex ahdb man we were told on Monday that as soon as things get back to normal all these levy payers who cannot pay are going to be put in court ,at least the bailiffs will be kept busy, are you absolutely sure you have left ahdb or is it true once a ahdb employee always ahdb employee.

AHDB has no control over the rules of the ballot, they were set out when it was created. You can 'challenge' what you like but it won't change them.

I have left AHDB, but as I told you before I came on here to defend former colleagues. There have been at least two occasions since where I would be 99% sure you're telling porkie pies. So I take everything you say with a pinch of salt. You repeat over and over that AHDB cannot be trusted to run a fair process, I can tell you that having worked there rules are followed to the letter.

I suppose you thought Jane king was being totally up front when she said they had been given a mandate to carry on when they had a response of 0.45%,why is there so much discontent with the ahdb if they are such a good organisation. Why don’t you and they get it we do not need nursemaiding ,I have built my business never using ahdb and never would I just want leaving alone,I am fed up with their hand in my pocket , the contact I have had with any ahdb staff is 99.9% couldn’t farm a window box or run a corner shop, George Bernard shaw quote comes to mind regarding ahdb is those who can do those who can’t teach.

Jane King's reaction to the published results of the government consultation into AHDB is hardly evidence that they would not run a ballot to the rules though.

We're in danger of slipping into an infinite feedback loop here, but I think what is telling is that you see AHDB as teachers or nursemaids. What they actually do is fund independent research. That's all it comes down to really, do you think everyone should chip in for unbiased research accessible to all - or do you leave it to ag chem and the growers who can afford it.

He thinks it should be left to those that can afford it, that much is obvious
This would probably mean the bigger growers which is fair enough for them as they can afford it, if on the other hand if there are a lot of small growers that value AHBD then I hope that white rabbit don't get his way

What is really puzzling is how on earth can 550 or 600 (no one knows the true figure) staff possibly find enough to do, the r and d is farmed out to a third party , there is not that much work to do in farming to warrant such an army of people. It doesn’t help their case when videos appear on you tube of staff larking about, the problem they have is they are proposing a radical change ,how have standards slipped so badly that this action has to be taken, even this wouldn’t have come about had we not started our campaign.

It seems odd that even ex ahbc cant see the that the original survey carried out by the ahdb was a complete sham, it was open to all to comment when it should have been the levy payers. Its also puzzling he doesn't seem to know what they do with all the levy money they take from us.

Simon W he does not want to see so it is a waste of time trying to convince him.

Thats ok henarar if we do win it won’t affect you , you are not in our sector not unless you have been daft enough to start growing veg.

The review of 0.45% included all the people who had received grants and money from the ahdb which turned out to be a third , is there much wonder we don’t trust them to the ballot in a proper manner.

We grow a few beans, jolly nice they are too
Seriously though I will usually stick up for the smaller farmers no matter what they farm, these big boys running around outbiding each other just so they can do it tuppence cheaper will be the ruination of the job for everyone

I couldn’t agree more ,like I have said we were only 18 acre county council farm ,I don’t want to be farming 3,000 acres but there is no option, I was given a choice of supplying 52 weeks of the year or stand aside and let somebody who can ,even the large grower packers have gone out of business in this area , and the ones who are left struggle to show a profit.
