Blood sucking ahdb

so what exactly is being changed?
I would have thought it would be rather difficult to make significant changes as that would require a change to the Statutory Instrument which would require parliamentary time.
Looks like arable farmers will paying till the end time ,we managed to get in just in time, mind you we still being forced to pay for 2021 they really are hell bent on screwing the last penny out of us till the last

Well sonoftheheir when you have had a mega salary you must realise it brings along a mega redundancy package , there is only one place to get it , you and me , maybe they think potato growers are earning enough this year.

No need for “mega” redundancy packages. Just use statutory rates, they aren’t very generous.

It is rumoured Hayley Campbell-Gibbons walked away with 100k, that seems quite generous to us peasants

Why would Hayley Campbell Gibbons be due a severance payment? She left NFU and took the role of Sector Chair for Hort at AHDB. That is not a full time role but an appointed position for a three year term.
But as you said it was just a rumour 🤣

Off top of my head I thought her three year term came to an end anyway on 31 October 2021? Was her appointment for certain number of days annually - somewhere around 100 days annually if I recall. Would the £100k be her payment for that time period?

Correct, appointed in 2018 with her term/contract finishing 31 Oct 2021

The £100k would be a rough total of the emoluments for the total three year term.

I wanted to share this with you all.

We stopped farming a few years ago and paid the levy for our final sales.

We told AHDB we have stopped farming by email and phone multiple times. AHDB have confirmed receipt of our messages but haven't done anything and assumed we have continued farming.

Instead they are trying to bill us for a further full year of sales that we haven't received in any way, as we aren't farming anymore.

I don't know what the cost to levy payers is for AHDB's use of solicitors to send ex farmers bullying letters for money they don’t owe.

My father is recovering from an operation he had a few weeks ago. He is a very honest man who worked his whole life in farming and does not deserve to be treated in this way.

AHDB's incompetence is disgraceful and has caused us a lot of upset.

I am going to try and contact them yet again but we are worried whatever legal proceedings they have initiated will cause us yet more problems.

I wonder if it is possible to submit a freedom of information request to AHDB to find out how much of your money they have spent on pursuing debts incorrectly.

To the farming members here - thanks for the all the work you do.

Disgraceful to persue you in this manner. Who do they think they are. Demand compensation. They will be gone as soon as there's a vote. Go for the freedom of information and leave no stone unturned.

I think I’d send the above as letters to the editor at farmers weekly/guardian.
Obviously just telling them you’re no longer trading hasn’t worked so you’ll have to try publicly shaming them.
Best wishes to your father, hope he makes a full recovery soon.

Did you get this solved? Did you do an FOI request?

Ken Boyles is the Finance director and you could contact him directly - he reads the forum and should be able to resolve this quickly for you.
