Bob Green Buildings - any thoughts!?

I found Bob to be helpful when I priced him against my regular local lad, who I ultimately decided to stay with, as it happened.
The standard of building and steel specs etc, I would put on par with the better end of the market like Shufflebottom, etc.
Not the cheapest of course, but who wants that if you end up with a rough job, one has to look at a shed for a very long time.

I've ordered a grain store and buildings from Bob Green recently. I asked a number of companies to quote and chose him for a variety of reasons. I liked his design and he knows what he's talking about. He was very helpful, took time to explain all the options and put up with me changing my mind umpteen times! Price was good.

I haven't had it built but feeling confident of my decision. Will put photos up when it's done.

Sounds like you might be the "cheltenham" BobGreen referred to in an earlier post. (y)

Our shed builders in my area have been flat out. That busy they had to stop taking orders. I know one company had a 7-month waiting list. People will always buy. Look at the fertiliser, prices over £600/£700 a tonne and our local fert agent is flat out selling lorry loads to farmers this past two weeks. Complete madness

I don’t know how the shed builder have even quoted this year
I have been trying since May to get a quote and still haven't.
Was told they were just waiting for a price for the tin, I called the tin supplier and got a quote there and then over the phone so that won't wash.
Latest promise was it would be with me in the next few days, that was a few days ago and it isn't.
Only after a 3 bay lean-to that matches the one they made last year, so the drawings are already done. Not impressed.

Not Bob Green

the issue here isn't the guys building the shed, its the lag time between a quote being accepted and the order being placed, and how prices change in the interim.

taking a shed for example, the RSD's might well increase soon after the quote is accepted but the builder will not want to order them at the start because he may not want them for several months.

I have just received a big order of palisade fencing, they would not give me a price on order, said it would be the price at the time of delivery which may be 4 - 8 weeks down the line.

V tricky times for all parties

I can't think of anything more stressful than having a business based on getting prices out of suppliers who are in turn in a similarly volatile world.

Of course even holding any kind of serious quantities of steel or anything in stock would just be totally dead money and just a PITA to even have sat there.
