Boo for Boris

I agree.
Having seen his explanation this afternoon, I take back what I put on post#3. After the hounding he has been getting from all and sundry in the press. I wouldn't care what I looked like dress-care wise.
It's quite obvious why Boris wants to employ him.

There is something very sick and wrong in this country when the press and media can get away with deliberately trashing anybody to this extent.

You and I obviously didn't watch the same program featuring Domonic Cummings explanation of his actions this afternoon.

In the version I watched, he didn't need to see how or say he did anything wrong, no regrets were needed, therefore no apology or remorse is necessary whatsoever.

It may have been a long time coming, but it was nice to see somebody actually standing up to the press and giving them what for, without missing out any answers to any of their questions.
The part where he said that he drove to Barnard Castle to see if he was fit to drive seemed alot like bulls**t to me.

I saw it. What I saw was someone who really couldn’t see that what he did was wrong, despite the rest of the country making huge sacrifices, some in similar (or worse) situations. I saw someone who was so arrogant that he still thought his actions were justifiable, despite the populous being appalled by the ‘them & us’ attitude shown.
In what was obviously a well thought out and scripted statement, a bit of humility, and an acceptance that he made a poor decision, would have gone some way to placating his critics. But no, he was ‘right’ to do what he did, regardless of the instructions that most others have been following.

I’d be very surprised if the calls for his head don’t get stronger over coming days.

I do agree that the press questions at the interview, particularly from the later participants, was juvenile. There can also be no defence of the action of the paparazzi outside his house, but then their actions have always been indefensible imo.
I didn't see it that way at all. I was expecting a bloodbath and to see him crucified. But IMO he did well and made all the press look like utter prats!

I'd like to see more top guys do this and rub the press's noses in it, for a change.
If doing what he thought was right for the sake of his child in extraordinary circumstances that reduced the chance of further infection to more vulnerable people is perfectly legal and within the rules, yet arrogance, let's have more!

Just one thing @neilo and please don't take this the wrong way:
If I ever end up on trial and you are a potential juror, if my Barrister objects to you being a member of the jury, please don't take offence!

BTW, if the situation is reversed, I won't mind either!

I spent 13 years engineering before I turned to a life of scratching dirt. So now, even though my every waking hour is about soil, tractors, cows, hay and straw, I am not a farmer ?
I don’t mind, playboy suits better (y)
I dont think he is farming it in any conventional way for a living.(i havent worded it very well) The kind of country pad where you sit on a ride on lawnmower and keep a few hens and sheep, maybe a highland cow or a beltie so they are nice to look at. (Edit) How many ordinary farms have electric security gates/intercom outside. Or maybe all government advisors parents have public protection.

Any evidence of that from anywhere, as policy doesn’t appear to back it up as yet?

I do .... yesterday’s Times, a slightly less hysterical paper than some perhaps

It would have been Landrover Assist anyway!

I have to say that this is yet again a perfect example of exactly what a bunch of utter turds our media are.
He is a Farmer's son and no doubt he has adopted a usual dogmatic farmer's approach. He had an answer to all of them, stood his ground and quite rightly refused to apologise.

Well done him and who else of us wouldn't have done exactly the same thing, given those circumstances.
I'm fairly certain that as from today, a man we only ever heard about and got an impression of from our press scumbags, has suddenly gone up in the eyes of most. Deservedly so!

Boris too.

DC isn’t
His father was an oil rig manager

I thought the same, especially when he got up to leave, swigged from his water glass then slid it across the table in arrogance

The moment Boris stops throwing money at the public and £50k in grants and loans at tanning salons and shisha bars his popularity will dive. Austerity and higher taxes to pay for the lockdown will not be popular.

Maybe we could sell the country to China and use their money like others have done?

I very much doubt land and asset rich farmers will be singing his praises when agricutural taxation is brought into line with general business in order to fund the lockdown bill.

Boris shouldn't have bothered with the lockdown if it didn't apply to his mates, the plebs won't tolerate double standards.
Clearly Boris needs to get rid of DC and just appoint you then all our problems will be over.

One can only think he has alot of dirt on Johnson and other front bench. He has kept Johnson out of the news about the American woman.
Some suggest this was dropped because more allegations of Boris and her are circling in the background I rather suspect they are correct. Bo Jo’s idea of safe sex, is not getting caught???

Johnson won't be able to claim the Clinton defence now that Witness A has confirmed that Ms Arcuri could confirm whether he dresses to the right or left

That depends.
Were/are you not gullible enough to begin to believe all the crap our media portray?
If somebody tells you for long enough that black is white, or in this case that white is black, it becomes difficult not to start believing them.
How gullible does that make us all?
And who is in the wrong?

I was wrong to start believing it, but faced with all the giants on the media and press, I bet I wasn't the only one.

Should I apologise to Mr Cummings for being gullible enough to believe it?
Maybe. But I don't think he would worry too much if I didn't because he's not stupid enough to realise the reason why I believed it.

And probably both he and I are utterly sick of it and would like it dealt with and stopped.

The facts of what he did, are absolutely immaterial to me, it is the absolute stink of hypocrisy that offends me.
He could have just apologised and blamed it on panic and fear for his family, Boris should have given him at least a very public dressing down, possibly demotion for a week at least , it would have been a storm for a day and tomorrow it would be wrapping the fish and chips.
instead it is set to rumble on for weeks and it has certainly damaged the governments credentials in every way

I think as long as Miss Arcuri is in a stable marriage the full story will not come out, if that falls apart and she needs a bob or two you can expect plenty to fill the Sunday papers. Of course she should not leave it too long because if Boris has left office, first the value will drop like a stone.

I am wondering if Bondage for Johnston is more appropriate.
Seems somewhat tied up with Dominic. ( Cannot bring my self to mention Cum...)

Actually far more serious this time than his wandering knob is the grants he sanctioned to Ms Arcuri. Although the Met have dropped criminal proceedings, I believe he is now under investigation by some committee or such like

You will be shouting christ, when you're selling your family farm to pay the business rates and inheritance tax bill so that the government can pay for the lockdown bill. Conservatives are a inner city party now, they will look after the inner city majority not the rural minority.

Hang on - the government have been chastised previously because they did not lock down the country quick enough, now your saying the above..... Geez, what sad and despicable country we have become....

No doubt there is a witch hunt here,
OK it may have been contrary to the spirit of lockdown.
But the press have had it in for him since brexit as he was a key architect,
Or am I being cynical?

Seems like we have enough on here wishing to stick the knife in even deeper too by the looks of things.... Sad times...
