Borehole depth.

We put in a bore hole this year and it went down to 330ft to get the water. The chap doing it said he would have been able to bore down 400ft max.

Whats the deepest you can go with a borehole and still use a submersible pump . Thinking about the practicalities of swapping pumps when it fails.

Ours is down 70m+

Properly constructed, it shouldn’t be an issue to raise the pump - slowly - using a telehandler from that depth or greater

Blimey. Some really deep boreholes out there. Ours is about 25 meters but the pump is at the top, outside the borehole with two pipes going up and down creating a loop of water. How easy is it to get the pump out of a deep borehole. Obviously the cable and pipe have to come up with it.?

My neighbour's one is about 400ft and the pump went. The engineer had a tripod over the hole and hooked the pipe or rope on to a Hilux to pull it up and it spun all four wheels. Used a tractor in the end. There's a lot of weight of water in 400 ft of pipe!. Ours is 120 ft and we pulled it up by hand once

We had been in our place a few years when out of curiously I decided to haul up our borehole pump by hand, turned out that was also about 70 metre deep. It was a case of ‘I’ve started so I’ll finish’ but I was VERY relieved when the pump finally appeared!

I have pulled mine out by hand once, never again. Like you once started you are committed and just have to go through the pain. The one at 90 metres comes out easy enough pulling with the quad bike through a pulley hanging from the foreloader. I think it's a good idea to have somebody with their hand on the rope so they can detect if the pump gets stuck.

There is no technical limit to the depth. You can onlu suck a maximum of 32feet ( roughly ten metres ) you can pump as high as you like . Provided you have
A the strength of pipe
B the power of pump
C the energy available

House next door bored down 380 ft before hitting water and it comes to the surface by itself so the pump is at the top
