Borehole irrigation

was thinking of putting in a borehole , question is would it be enough supply to run irrigation from , we are on top of a hill but do have a good aquifer , is anyone doing similar ?

You can spec them for irrigation...

I think it may also be down to the type of rock and aquifer size...

Nobody here will really be able to help as we don't know how many litres you are using. Best bet would be to speak to a drilling firm that have operated in your area and know the geology so they can estimate potential yield...

The guy from Dales water turned up here, he said we will drill between 60 and 80 metres down and it will be more than adequate for your needs

They can be certain of hitting water but not the flow rate which is of course crucial for irrigation needs, it is very much a matter of luck

Presumably you will need permission of some sort too?

If you are drawing under 20 cu m a day there are no issues
Over 20 you need flow rate and recovery rate tests for envir agency

Same story for me, used http://www.daleswater.co.uk/ for mine. If they know the area and the geology then they usually have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Can always put a storage tank in as well for periods of heavier use.
